I'm a skinny kid, and now I avoid fastfood, not because I think I'm fat just because all that crap isnt good for your health, but I was wondering, here is what I get when I always go to Subway.

12" Turkey Breast Sub
Wheat Bread
American Cheese(4 triangle shaped cheeses)
Mustard

That's what I get normally, it is under the " 6 grams of fat or less" menu, but instead of getting the 6" one, I get the 12", and I was just wondering, is the sub with everything on it I posted above healthy for you and is it like fast food, like all the greasy things from KFC?

10 pts for one who answers both of these questions.

Yes, the sandwich is healthy. No, it is not greasy like most fast food.

The listed sandwich isn't "bad" for you. The bread contains carbohydrates which break down into sugar when digested (4 calories per gram) and the cheese is straight fat (9 calories per gram). It is not as bad as KFC, largely due to the fact that it is not fried. Fried foods are most often considered bad because they are fried in a partially hydrogenated oils. These oils have the same calories per gram as any fat, but they are not easily broken down and stored by the body resulting in clotted arteries.

As far as subway itself is concerned; There was a study done on the effects of Subways (and McDs) "healthy attitude" on consumers choices. People were often duped into believing that Subway food was all "healthy" and therefore they tended to eat more. The average Subway patron consumed an average of 200 calories more per meal because of this "health halo". It's not that the 200 calories was good or bad. It's more the fact that they were unaware of consuming them.

I hope that's not the only thing you eat in a day. I'd say you need more veggies on that sub. It looks a little low on greens. But yeah, that's not greasy, and not loaded in mayo and fried in butter. It's still a little high in carbs, since it's a sandwich, but if you're skinny, I don't think you have much to worry about. Just don't eat the same thing everyday, because that can be just as bad as eating a burger everyday. You need a lot of variety and balance in your diet to get all the necessary minerals and vitamins. If you're eating lots of veggies and fruit at other meals and sticking to water or fruit juice for your drink then good on you.

I love Subway. It's not bad for you, it's better that all those other fast food places. As long as you stay under the 6 grams of fat I think it's healthy for you as long as you don't put all the mayo and everything on it. The cheese is fattening, but it's a good source of fat.

well subway DOES stretch some of the things it says, but YES subway is healthier than kfc!!!

everything at kfc is cooked in GREASE---and not only that they have breaded-crusted chicken and potatoes and alot of carbs!!!

i dont know as far as caloric wise the subway sandwhich you get--because you have different items on the sandwhich and it would really depend on how many pounds of turkey breast you have on your sandwhich. turkey is generally low in fat though and really helps your metabalism

wheat bread is an excellent choice getting your metabolism started--but when you look at the site on the last page it actually says that the deli style is less caloric.

THIS comes directly from the subway website--

http://subway.com/subwayroot/MenuNutrition/Nutrition/pdf/NutritionValues.pdf

but like i said--would really depend HOW much turkey and how much mustard and stuff you put on the sandwhich. good luck!

It is still healthy for you. As long as the mustard is moderate. and it is better than sak Mcd's of KFC because there is no grease involved. If your sandwich has 10 grams of fat, it is a lot less than getting 2 double cheeseburgers at mcd's....it has like 150 gram PER burger!

I think Subway is fairly healthy for you. Just as healthy as if you would stay home and make the sandwich yourself. It is a fast food restaurant just like McDonald's, KFC, and such; but Subway doesn't carry greasy items like the others.

Your turkey breast is very healthy,
It really doesn't matter if it six, or 12 inch, just as long as you stay away from the mayo. Your cheese is only equivalent to two slices, so you are safe there.
