Have you considered a dinner cruise?

Not sure what fireworks you are talking about. But, as far as waterfront restaurants in NYC there are two that can be recommended, The Water Club in Manhattan, more for view than food. In Brooklyn, the Bridge Restaurant, think that's the name, haven't been there in awhile, you get a great view and incredible food. Both are far from cheap. I totally love the Bridge Restaurant. Worth going to Brooklyn for this.
Not a lot on the waterfront. Only can think of these on the east side.
