I am buried in debt and my dad's old tv tore up, and he's done so much for me and he's always wanted one of those tv's and i just wanted to get one for him but i don't have the money for it!

Go get a second job and earn the money to buy the TV. I guess maybe all that digging you did to bury yourself in debt is holding you back. WORK WORK WORK and get the hell out of debt and pay your damn bills. The last thing you need is a big fat TV to sit your lazy *** in front of all day. And by the way.... I recommend getting a LCD unless you watch in the dark all the time. I have one, and I suggest picking one up if you have the means.

Don't get a Plasma TV even if it's free, because you will have problems with it that will put you out of sight in debt. They are no good. Unproven technology ! Too many issues already. I've researched this.
