What made you convert to Islam?

Please narrate your story on what made you convert to Islam. It is better to give a brief answer. What is special about this religion. Some people post offensive comments. Please avoid it. I expect respect for religon

First I am mexican, my family catholics more for tradition than conviction and I am 30 years old and currently a master´s degree student.

The oneness of God was at first the most attractive and logical thing I found in islam. I later discovered how the concept of trinity was invented by Constantine the emperor, and how he and the church manipulated the bible..

While studying my bachelors in communication, I had the chance to realize about the political impact of religion in several stages of human history. I am well aware of rethorics and mass persuasive instruments. I am also aware of science and catholicism always clashed with it. So when I find islam was suitable for those who strive to get more knowledge coz it encourages it: I decided it to go for more...

Another subject: women issues. In catholicism sex and women are always dirty issues: not in islam.And when I had the chance to meet some muslims girls I realized how degrated is woman here in the west.

It is only me?

I was reading a blog and suddenly I recalled that I have been wondering if there was "other" reasons that drove me to embraced islam. Of course there are some no official reasons beyond those strictly religious.

Since in this country religion is not really that reelevant in the every day behaviors of people, nor it shapes the dynamics of the society (as for example the material issues does) then I would say that those other "things" that drewme to islam were related in fact with that: the life style.

And going further...I can tell it was my aversion toward the corruption of humankind and the revulsion I feel for social and economical inequalities that prevails nowadays, that I was very attracted to the only religion that actually links every aspect of our lifes under the same creed and system of values, because it is rich in guidence, it clarifies everything, it makes easier things in life, it gives answers to questions, it gives a higher status to women, and its broad scope even make science to be fitting to believe in.

Its an alternative. It is the best alternative. It is a sort of political resistance, maybe just the consequence of all the pressure generated by the materialistic and faked world that keep us from having a worthy existance as human beings and not only as "sexual buying objects".

I would come on yahoo answers and read statements by people who would say, Islam is wrong and stuff like that. Now I have a boyfriend who is a Muslim and I would defend the religion even though I wasn't a Muslim. By looking up answers and by reading what real Muslims were saying then I came to the conclusion that Islam was not this terrible religion that people were saying. So, I did research on my own and I realized that this was the right path for me. I was a witch when I converted. However, I'm still shocked that people hate Islam so much. I discovered the truth about it. I wish people would do the same. I don't want people to convert to Islam, only just to respect my belief and to understand that being It is a cruel and unjust world that we live in. I just keep on going in my own little world.

Converting to Islam are for people whom they understand and are well educated, and please stop offending Islam. To the one who said that he left Islam because of the reasons that he said, stop LYING, if you were really a Muslim you would have never said that. Stop dissing Islam, stop offending Islam , what you are doing are sins, big sins, for insulting the majesty of the Islamic religion.

Many people are converting to Islam because they first study about it and they know everything about Islam. Once they know everything about Islam they are going to be very convinced towards the convert to Islam. These are the educated people, they first know what is Islam, and believe me you will never find help in the Internet to know about Islam. If you want to know about Islam then go to the nearest mosque and ask a Muslim expert and he will tell you about Islam and he's going to answer your questions. Insulting a religion is a sin, saying wrong things about a religion is a sin. Know first about it then comment.

can you tell me why every year Islam forces people to hunger themselvs every day for a month???? Answer: They hunger themsleves to feel what the poor people are feeling, for example feeling hungry because they don't have money at all to buy food, feeling pain because of hunger. Allah (God) said that we must fast in the holy month of ramadan every year to feel what the poor people are feeling, and no they don't put people in jail if you eat in the holy month of ramadan, Allah (God) never said to put people in jail if they eat in ramadan . can you tell me why islam allows public execution of hanging someone where little children could see it???? Answer: This happens in poor countries, and the ones whom they allow it are bad Muslims, there are 40-50 million bad Muslims in this world the rest 1.5 billion are good and they never do terrorism. can you tell me why we have no women in our government??? Answer: If you mean the government of Iran then I don't know. can you tell me why women are suffering and struggling????? Answer: Not only women, but also men and children. Some of them suffer because they are poor and this is an example of why we fast in ramadan every year. can you tell me why i should believe that quran came from god??? Answer: God sent Gabriel to give the Qur'an to the profit Mohamed(peace be upon him), and this was said in the Qur'an. and can you tell me why Islam tells the follwers to "FIGHT" any other religions???? Answer: In the past many Muslim followers were fighitng the unreligious people to let them know about Islam, this was not by force, they first asked them to tell them about Islam, but when they refuse a battle breaks out, so when the Muslim followers told them about Islam they were convinced, there were some that were not convinced, so they left them and they didn't force them to convert to Islam. Also we don't fight any other religions, in fact we respect every single religion. can you tell me why Islam keeps telling muslims that its the best religion of all arrogantly???? Answer: It is because Islam came to fix all of the mistakes that has been done, yes Islam is the best religion, but also other people with diffreren religions will say that their religion is the best religion. can you tell me why islam tell you to cut off sombodys feet or hand crucially because he/she stole something???? Answer: This is not a fact, and this was done by unreligious people from the past. Also it was the old way of thinking through a punishment. can you tell me why islam allows stoning to death in public????? Answer: This can be wrong in some ways and can be right in some ways, some of them who kill themselves in public are evil, and some of them are right if they were killing evil people.
