If the bible says:

1 Corinthians 11:13 You yourselves judge: doth it become a woman, to pray unto God uncovered?
1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner women also in decent apparel: adorning themselves with modesty and sobriety, not with plaited hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly attire,

Ephesians 5:22 Let women be subject to their husbands, as to the Lord:
Corinthians 14:34 Let women keep silence in the churches: for it is not
permitted them to speak, but to be subject, as also the law saith.

Why they are not covered anymore? and why the criticize muslim women who do that?

Where is the respect to your own religion here? As I can see this is why there is not respect towards other creeds either.

As we can see, christians look for ways to "avoid" what is law...there is not commitment to God, so how can they expect God to be commited to them???

Lack of discipline and real love I think

Diana: Christian women are not bound by this though some Amish sects still practice it (as well as other things). These verses come from the Apostles and most were believed to have been written in letter form by Paul and were meant to address specific problems of the struggling and persecuted church communities of the time. Its safe to assume that if Paul were alive today, there would be significant differences in the problems churchs face.

I notice you left out the description of the woman of noble character in Proverbs 31. I wonder why?

I am sorry I cannot remember my schooling well, but your Corinthians and Timothy verses were dealing with specific issues to that Church. It also could be very applicable to anyone that dresses inappropriate or speaks without thinking or interrupts the word of God.

As for your Ephesians. It is true married women are to do just that and to me it means "you better marry well." Also men are to be subject to God in a hierarchy. Notice too that men are to love women as Christ loved the Church. What did Christ do? Gently rebuked them, met their needs, spoke with them, and most importantly died for them. We men have a duty to our wives and children and it is a mountain. Only in the most dire or important situation should we call in our "trump card." As God himself will be the judge.

Those rules were made to combat specific evils in the church at the time. This can be made out from the beginnings of Timothy's and Paul's letters. You forget also in Ephesians, that a husband is to love his wife, this is the only way a woman would be subject to him anyways. We, as Christians have progressed. Criticizing wrong is never wrong. BTW Ecclesiastes 7:26 REFERS TO EVIL WOMEN, particually harlots.

Thankfully, most Christians have come to realize that not every verse of ancient scripture is perfect. Many of its commands defy common sense and others (such as those sanctioning slavery and ordering the killing of children who curse their parents) are just plain wrong.

If Muslims would come to the same realization, that would be one step in the right direction.

I dress modestly, I have pride in myself. I don`t think we need to be walking around in habits!! I wear a cross, ( only jewelery I wear). I don`t think God really wants us to pay that much attention to what we wear. It`s what in our hearts and actions that counts to him. Although, I think Brittany Spears needs to cover up, ( down there). Have some respect for herself, she just gave birth....

Let's not forget to mention this one from Ecclesiates 7:26

(KJV)
"And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her."
