short pig tails. moussed up so looks wet and layered. That outta the bed look works also. maybe slicked to the side with some snap barrettes. do some twisties in the front , secure them with tiny rubberbands. A headband. bobby pin the sides, and updo your front and bang area. Look in some magazines or online at people with short hair. Barettes holding back your bang area.

You could do it in 2 short braids, or you could French braid it and then leave it in a ponytail. I hope this helps!

braid the front half way or wet and curl it with spritz it would look very cute around 12 and the age of 13 please take my advise.
