Hi,
I am a musician who travels most days of the week. Sleep schedule is always random, sometimes I cannot sleep due to the fact of actually being in a moving vehicle while sleeping.

Eating, I try the best I can. Sometimes food choices on the road are heard to make. i.e. fast food. I am taking a multivitamin, & vitamin c. I do all the things I can think of. But, I suffer being sick sometimes, which disables me from singing and feeling my best during shows. Any ideas?

Oh, Im also a 25 year old male.

I agree with another poster that packing your own food can be great. If you can avoid things with processed and simple sugars, it would not only improve your health in general, but might help with getting more, better-quality sleep. It’s one of the best, most inclusive steps you could take.
One can even eat an overall healthy, clean diet at fast food restaurants. Just make wise choices: i.e. You know that a double whopper isn’t good for you, so just opt for a grilled chicken salad and that fruit cup thing. Another thing that I’ve found to be great for my health, sleep patterns, and overall disposition is exercise. Even if you don’t have much time, a quick but highly intense workout session can have many of the benefits of a longer, more traditional routine.

And at the risk of sounding like a loon: try a little meditation. You don’t have to go all zen monk, but just five minutes of progressive relaxation can really prime your mind and body to just let go of the day and fall into sleep. Also, having just about any set routine (once it becomes established), can help prep yourself for sleep. Pavlov’s dogs aren’t the only ones that can form a conditioned response, after all, so you can use that type of psychology for your benefit.

Sleep is very important to feeling healthy and being healthy.
Taking a multivitamin is ood for you, but you don't need it if you are eating right. However you would want to fight free radicals so taking something like green tea extract and vitamins c, e, and a would be helpful, but not in monster dosages only in normal doses...too much of a good thing is bad!
Fast food is not good for you at all if you are going to eat it on a regular basis, but eating at regular intervals is imprtant and good for the gi tract even if its not the best food in the world
A glass of wine or dark beer a few times a week has been proven to be beneficial to the heart and circulatory system
Some exercise 3 - 4 times per week would help with your energy and stamina as well as fighting disease.

Try to pack your own "lunches" low fat, sodium, sugar, low on anything artificial, drink plenty of water. Don't stress out about sleep but make it a point to catch a few when ever you can. Lay down, put your feet up and breathe deep to relax.
