...Neglecting almost altogether their old concern about individual salvation, they have converted themselves into vast engines for harassing and oppressing persons who dissent from their naïve and often preposterous theology."

I totally agree and 10 minutes at the Focus on the Family website would convince all doubters.

They now walk the corridors of power. Jesus command to "feed the poor, visit those in prison" have long been forgotton, and in it's place they have replaced a lust for power. They no longer even mask it. Instead merely wanting power, they say they "deserve" power. It is somehow their divine right. God save us all if these people ever get *more* power than they have no. Perhaps HL Menchen doesn't generalize all the time? And perhaps HL Menchen isn't always a whiny little baby all the time? Perhaps HL Menchen will allow others to have their own opinion even though they do not agree with HL Menchen?

Good question. It is not true of all evangelical churches but a lot of the "mega" churches are not interested in the condition of the souls of the members, but they are very interested in the condition of their wallets.

I used to belong to one and I will never go back again. I would not say they harass or oppressing people though. They just send the wrong message.

Menchen is just exagerating the facts. Not all evangelical churches are a nuisance. Religious extremism is the true nuisance.

Yep. Quite true. Sorry about that.
However, I think that atheists have converted themselves into "vast engines for harassing and oppressing persons who dissent from their naive and often preposterous theology" too.

That is purely the opinion of HL Menchen. Personally, I don't see it as fact.

Last I checked there is still freedom of religion in this country. If anybody is oppressing us its the ACLU by forcing the teachings of God out of public schools and replacing it with atheistic philosophy.

The only people in this situation that are naive are atheists that think they are going to keep this life for themselves and suffer no consequences.

The evangelical churches are rapidly becoming a nuisance to satanic forces.

Oh, we've always been a public nuisance, ever since Peter preached his first sermon on the Day of Pentecost.

i havent thought of it specifically as a public nussance, just slightly annoying but i guess if you have a rabid evangelist on you they tend not to take no for an answer...
