Yikes. You may learn something, but you wont master it in one month. There's more to it than just learning a language. You also have to practice it in order for you to retain the meaning and pronunciation. If you already speak two or more languages, at age 30, this should be very easy for you. But again, you wont be able to master it in one month. Try living in Japan for a year or so.

No.

I took Japanese for 1 year, and by the end of that year, our teacher told us we knew less than the average 3 or 4 year old, simply because someone who lives in the culture will pick up all the day to day words, shorthand phrases, local jargon, etc.

And that does not even address the 600+ kanji that is considered proficient by the end of 6th grade (for Japanese schoolchildren), or the 2000+ that most know by the time they graduate high school.

1 month. Ha!

How long did it take you to master a reasonable level of English as a child?

Now that you're versed in at least one language you don't have to start from zero, but your learning will be slower because you're older. All in all, Japanese would take as long to master, if not longer.

the best i know you can do in one month is the pimsleur course. That gives quite a lot of practical useful language - you end up being able to ask directions and order food etc.

The thing of losing the ability to learn as you get older - is not always true. Some people shut their brains off and choose not to listen - they never learn, others pick it up the same as kids. But it takes a long time for children to learn their native language too.

hahahahahahaha!!!
Is that a serious question?
I'll answer the follow up question seriously. Depends what you mean by "master", but most linguistics estimate it takes about 5-6 years to master Japanese.

No. Because as we get older, our ability to learn languages decreases greatly. That is why children that grow up multi-lingual are much more fluent at a young age than older people that try to pick it up later in life. And at your age... you'll never get it.
