Most of the nations major leaders were either atheists or deists. Lincoln wrote an anti-Christian book that he never disavowed even while running for President. Adams wrote to Jefferson that the best of all possible worlds would be one without religions. Jefferson of course started the University of Virginia so there would be a University without all the foolishness of the ministers and religion. Thomas Paine was an athiest. The first treaty of the United States, between the United States and the Barbery States, begins with the statement that the United States was not founded upon Christian principles and as such, there should be no natural conflict between the United States and Muslem nations. It was written during Washington's administration and signed by John Adams. Franklin was almost certainly an athiest if not a deist, which there is little difference since the deists believe God created the universe and hasn't been seen since.

Then you get into the major writers of which Mark Twain is the most obvious, but quite a number really. Then you have all the inventors and scientists that populate and have changed our society.

They all trusted clarity of thinking over a pastor's ideas of what the truth is. They trusted in doubt. They were excellent doubters and their doubts set us free either to follow some pastor, or not as we see fit.

Atheism is not a movement. It's a category of people who require reasonable and verifiable proof in order to accept something. It hasn't really had any direct impact on America, though individual atheists have made a difference by their own actions (not normally related to their atheist ideology).

However, some would suggest that the U.S.A. was founded by atheist (derived from a misunderstanding of Free Masons).

The mention of "God" on our coinage and in our pledge is an anomaly from the 1950's. Having plastered everywhere wasn't a major part of our culture until then. There's nothing historical about having "God" mentioned all over the place.

An atheist invented the lightbulb... Where would the world be without a lightbulb?

*correction*
In truth atheism has not changed America. Atheists have influenced America. America hasn't given Atheism a chance to change America.

Atheism has drastically changed America by stealing many souls and leading them into a web of lies and emptiness. When a sinner leads others into the same sin, "all hell breaks loose". That's where the liberals comes from. We are getting more secular over the years. Satan lives on their weak faith (souls) and gains strength with each one. The strange thing is, that even Satan isn't an atheist. He is well aware of God, His creator as well.

History shows us that as more Americans lose faith and are in complete denial of the Lord, more bad things are happening to us. Punishment from the Lord? Or just coincidences?

ten commandment removed from court rooms in the u.s
Prayer removed from sports activities.

Trying to take one nation under God out of pledge of allegiance
Christmas tree is called holiday trees in school and city buildings
Happy Holidays replaces merry Christmas.

Yeah atheist want everything their way, if a group gets together and prays because of their beliefs and atheist are invited to join or not they get made and make it a big deal..
Christians never forced them to pray or worship God
So please don't force your beliefs on me.
I am happy that atheist have invented so much for me, but truth be told if that atheist didn't invent the light bulb someone else would have. There is always someone that can step up and take that persons place.

Atheism has made America..well the world a better place to live. Just look up at all the things they have made.

Hey we are only protecting our rights..why only look at the bad things (well bad in your eyes)

Like I said above look at all the good we have done.
