before i give somewhat of an answer, i have to say that i have respect for all religions and beliefs, every individual is to his own. However, i see where this question is evident and it is very true that the Muslim faith is not one of peace. For example, muslims have persecuted more christians than hitler did the jews, simply because of their faith. If they are a peaceful faith, then why kill people simply because they choose to believe something different. It is not in the christian bible to kill someone or not befriend someone because they believe something different from you. Instead christians are taught to love another. Next, muslims believe that if a girl gets raped, she brought it upon herself! That it is her fault, and in order to rid her family of the shame, she must be killed. Wow! really peaceful there huh? Lastly, just as a good last thought, why is it that the Muslim people have named streets, STREETS, after the terrorist of 9/11, some heroes those people were? If you are going to give honor to people who created such horrible crimes, killing thousands of people and changing a nation forever, well enough said.

Islam is about peace. However, that verse has been taken in a literal meaning. This verse is probably referring to an event where they had some bad experience with Jews and Christians. It does not mean to avoid making friends. It is just probably a sign of caution. This might have been in reference how these three religions could engaged in a political battle. I say there are good and bad everywhere. No religion should be stereotyped. The bad things happening these day is because of politics. Political leaders from all sides are manupulating religion for power. It is not the problem with the religion. It is the hunger for power that leads to these issues. I hold both parties responsible for it. Islam is a tolerant and peaceful allowing good treatement of people from different religions. The Jews and Christians hold special respect because they are people of the Book. Islam accepts all prophet of Judaism and Christianity.

I'm not much for any organized religion, and I don't know a lot about the Koran, but I have seen some. From what I've seen, the Bible speaks of past violence fondly, but doesn't condone violent action to be taken now. Jesus spoke of peace, even if the OT was full of war. However, the Koran speaks of violence now, with rules for jihad and killing outsiders and things of the like. It condones violence now. However, followers of both take out of each holy document what they will. There are excuses for war in the bible, and their are causes for peace in the Koran.

Check the Quran:
Death for apostasy:
Sura 4:89: "They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.”
Kill Disbelievers in a cruel fashion:
Sura 5:33: "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they will have an awful doom."
Slit throats of unbelievers:
Sura 47:4: "Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, smite at their necks; until when you have overcome them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost."
Amputation for petty theft:
Sura 5:38: "Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done a deterrent from God: God is almighty and wise."

Muslims are peaceful people. Just like Christians. But fanatics on both sides take things out of context in order to create disputes.

How are they going to have a peace when their muhammad said "my destiny in my sword?" Read this book the greatest explanation of peace in islam vol10 peg 517 you will see what is the peace means in islam. By the way this book is an islmic book. you are the one who doesnt know anything about your religion. you are just like a typical muslim who gives his ears to imam and you only hear what you want to hear. as far as that book you are saying i know nothing about, the name of the book in arabic is by al mugheni in al sharh el kabeer. go read it before you open your mouth. ive been studying islam for over 15 years. you are the one who doesnt read. go read about your religion before you put makeup on your religion and cover it up. the days where you can arrest people for talking against islam are gone.

There is no peace in Islam unless you agree with them and if you dont then according to them they have the right to kill you..all in the name of God..I wish people would stop committing evil acts in the name of God..I dont think he appreciates that either

did u completed the verse ??
the whole verse says : " O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust "
Allah wants Muslims to be independant, to be their own leaders
Allah don't want Christians or Jews to lead us
Allah wants us to have our own personality, own culture & own character
When u read a verse from Qur'an, read ALL the verse, not a part of it, so u can understand whats the point of it
By the way, the answerer above me " md " know nothing about Muhammed, Muhammed didn't say that words she said & i dunno anything about the book she's talking about
Peace

Yes, however, the christian bible is not much better....remember the passages about light versus darkness? Be not unequally yoked? If you are not a servant of god, you are a servant of satan?
With that attitude, there can be no peace.
