well, i think this, and what i am sayiing is my belief system, noone taught me this, so i could be only speaking for myself,

WHY THE PEOPLE THINK ABOUT GOD,
I have always thought God is the power, the love, the strength and the miracle, the means to comfort and safety,, the awesome spirit that owns a heaven of undescribable endless peace, and reward, bliss, and that is if i am a "good girl" I GET THAT,
ON the other hand, i can have and own, a hero, if i am frightened, or lost hope, or am abandoned by mankind, if i am suffering, i think about him, and tallk to him and realize that that is the only, yet greatest hope i have,,
does that make sense,
even if i do not deserve him, i can ask, and when all else fails, he will not fail me..
and yet, i have done nothing to deserve the ownership, or security of "GOD". but i still am allowed the right, and freedom to want him, or seek him out.. and the more i thinkn about him, then the more i want to understand him,, so it goes in a circle of Love,, so that is it.

Because it is one's original inherent nature as spirit souls to be in a loving relationship with the supreme spirit, God in the spiritual world. But having come from the spiritual world to the material world and having forgotten about god we are in illusion. But God comes Himself in various avataras and sends his representatives like Jesus, Mohammed, Shankara, Ramanuja, Nimbarka, Vishnuswami, Sri Chaitanya, saintly persons etc... to revive our original relationship. Therefore, by the good association one can revive that lost relationship once again.

It is inherent just as walking ability is inherent in a child.

There is a portion of the Creator in me and when God called me when His Word was preached to me even my blood knew Jesus was real. When the Holy Spirit came alive within me that missing part was found. I finally felt whole and full of hope. " And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as He is pure." 1 John 3:3 It would be virtually impossible for me not to think about God. With the Holy Spirit within me He brings to my remembrance every Word spoken to me by God in His Word.

They do it because it's always better to blame the others for your troubles. And it's always easier when you believe that someone might help you in difficult situations, when there tends to be no hope and a person cannot change anything. They think "who knows, a miracle might happen" or something like that..

Because our highly developed brains allow us to contemplate our own demise and experience the terrifying thought that we will not exist in the future.

Culture, and especially religion, protects us from our fear of death.

In anthropology this important idea is usually attributed to Ernest Becker. In psychology, it is called "Terror Management Theory" (see the reference below).

Note: These are my opinions please do not take them personally.

Centuries passed and yet no one has seen him.
Remember Jesus, krishan, budha, etc were all followers of GOD and not GOD.
The mistake we are doing is trying to search GOD in human form. And GOD has no form, no face, no shape.
GOD is nobody but NATURE.
Its infinity.
