At this stage, while he is so tiny, make sure that you never leave him on the couch, chair, bed, etc. He could fall off and break his tiny bones.

Get puppy training pads. Then teach him to go potty on them. It will take time. But if he potties anywhere else, make sure you show him what he d id. Never rub his nose in it. Then take him to the training pad and show him that is where he is supposed to go. You can use baby gates to keep him only in the safe places.

Make sure he has fresh water and puppy kibbles. Also have him checked by a vet to make sure he is healthy. Chihuahuas get cold easy. So make sure you have a nice warm bed for him to sleep in....and a blankie.

We have a very well trained Chihuahua and he is spoiled rotten. But he is a great little guy. Keep in mind that they usually bond to only one person. That is usually the one who takes care of them and shows them the most love.

Goodluck!!

Chihuahuas are typically one-person dogs. Even if they get along okay with the whole family, they will usually seek out one person as their favorite. They are fiercely protective of their family and territory - they don't have a clue they are so small! But this can translate into a lot of barking when someone new comes to visit, so start training early. They get cold easily, and they should never have table scraps. Small dogs' digestive systems can't handle the same things that big dogs can.

Every answer you've gotten on here is excellent! They all said what I would've--Just keep your pup happy and healthy and have a good vet available. One other thing I've learned is chihuahuas dont like to be left alone for extended periods of time. I have a yr old chi and he is just the best thing to ever happen to us. You are so lucky!!

Watch out from stepping on him! i had a small pekinese and they love running under your feet. Other than that- nothing different. just spoil them- they love that and also I recomend never letting them have puppies- its bad for them being so small. Also they are good with learning tricks- give them a small treat everytime they do something good- and also... they love doggie chicken! good luck- I wish i had a chihuahua =(

Yes, Chihuahua's are very sensitive to the cold, so do not leave them out in the cold too long. When you are potty training them, do not smack them, their bones are very sensitive since they are soo small, and you can end up breaking one. Spoil the crap out of him, and baby him as much as you can. I did this with my Chi and he is well-behaved and not an ankle biter. He is really sweet. I am getting me another one in March as soon as he turns 8 weeks old. Take your Chi to the vet and make sure that he is healthy and is up to date on his shots.

If you live in a rural area, beware of Hawks. I once had a Chihuahua killed by a hawk in the back yard.

Didja understand that bronchial asthma isn't even contagious????? No, given which you won't be able to even spell bronchial asthma!!!!!!!!!!

Same as a normal puppy, just watch things that he might chew, etc. They are soooo cute! I'm jealous!
