My Miniature Dachshund does the same thing, especially when he is very thirsy. He always gags, but never throws up.
I think that if they drink too much water too fast, they gag on it. But I wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as she is not throwing up she should be Ok.

Alisa,my longhair mini dachshund also gags after he drinks water.I have to agree with some of the other answers you have recieved.I really don't think you have to worry about anything as long as Chloe is not throwing up.Rambo I feel just drinks to fast at times..Other than that he is great, hes nearly 10 years old now and this has been going on for years.I hope this will make you feel better about Chloe....LaVonne

I think certain breeds like the smaller or medium size dogs do that...I have a sheltie that does that...unless it seems like it is getting worse I wouldn't worry about it...if it does get worse I would call the vet.

Maybe she is drinking too much too fast. My dog does it too.
