When you awake first thing in the morning, is the first thing you think you need is an alcoholic drink? If you answer yes to that, then I think you probably are.

Yes but a recovering alcoholic stopped 2 years ago after 8, 10 day rehabs. Took me twenty years to admit to it, been through all the scenarios (losing everything), getting things back back now (family etc.), Even got a computer to write this lol, would of sold it a while back. There is life after alcohol.

Just the fact the you are concerned with being an alcoholic is a good thing. If you are dependent on drink everyday, yes you could be. It is not the end of the world just cut back gradually- once a week to once a month... Life is hard somtimes but drinking your problems away will not help anything.

(1) drinks frequently (almost daily)
(2) becomes inebriated relatively soon after the first or second drink
(3) continues to drink, sometimes to a state of unconsciousness
(4) knows that they have a problem but won't admit it.
(5) almost always has a ketone acidosis odor on their breath.

Early alchoholics may not drink frequently, but when they do drink, they always become drunk. Social drinking is not observed.

Social drinkers have one or two drinks over a few hours, and don't get drunk.

Alcoholics get drunk relatively quickly.

Mild forms of alcoholic hepatitis may not cause noticeable problems, but as the disease becomes more advanced and the liver more damaged, signs and symptoms are likely to develop.

These may include:

Loss of appetite
Nausea and vomiting, sometimes with blood
Abdominal pain and tenderness
Yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice)
Fever
Abdominal swelling due to fluid accumulation (ascites)
Mental confusion
Fatigue

These symptoms may vary, depending on the severity of the disease, and are likely to become worse after a bout of binge drinking.

If you are dependent on alcohol to get you through days. If you can't go a day without having a drink. If you can't wait for your next drink. If you think you might be, then find an AA meeting and go, it's the best thing you can do for yourself. You may or may not be, but relying on drinking is a big sign, and asking the question shows you question your behavior, and that's a very good sign. Everyone but me in my family were big drinkers. And not one of them was a happy drunk - life was pretty scary then. Life may be tough, but it's much tougher when you can't handle it because you drink. I wish for you the very best and hope you find resolution for your question.

Looking at your 'about me' on your profile I would say no but I'm wondering why you're asking?! If you're unhappy about the amount you drink or feel it's too much try cutting down.
I drink way more that you and don't class myself as an alcoholic or as having a problem.

If you think you are then you probably are. Social drinkers don't need to ask themselves this question or even think about the word alcoholic.

I don't know, you, how much you drink, or how often.

I do know, I'm not an alcoholic, I'm a drunk.
Alcoholics go to meetings.

Whats the question ??

How are you coping with it, my best way is to get another drink down my throat and be happy. If thats too hard I suggest a doctor and maybe rehab or AA.
