Why do some men start a relationship with a particular girl, you two start seeing each other alot, but the guy still holds on to women from his past...Is it that the girl, likes him more than he likes her or what?

It's a security issue.
i.e. Who's familiar? Who knows my history and I can talk to them without having to explain?
Also, some guys maintain friendship with women from their past. It's just how they're wired. Unless, he's still dating this other girl or getting it on or going to her to talk about things he should be talking to you about, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Men holding on to women from his past is not a good sign... yes, they will always be in memory no matter what. Its just like some things you did when you were young that you will always remember.. you just cant help it. Same way with relationships, good or bad, they will be in your memory. He either wants you to know that hes had alot of women and tries to talk himself up by talking about them ( hes not sure how else to do it) if he is talking about them alot and saying things like Im not sure if im over her or I would like to talk to her again...then that guy need to go, hes not that into you if you cant keep his mind off her! So go find a guy thats into you and not still into his ex! There are plenty of guys that will treat you like gold and maybe you can find one that completes you... But rememeber no one is perfect...you just have to find one that you can actually deal with day in and day out. Especially one that is loyal and does not cheat or think about their ex...hold on to him if you find him, which you will! Just give it time and dont rush it!

Men are by nature not monogamous. They also think more practically than women (i.e. if this one doesn't work out I can always go back to the old girlfriend). It is only when a woman says "there can be no one but me" that a man will commit. Or if he is threatened that another man might take the woman. If he is unable to commit, he is unworthy.

I've done that to a girl, I think. It was because I wasn't over the other girl. I thought I was (that's why I tried dating again), but I really wasn't. If he falls in love with you, he'll stop taking about her. Right now, just give him time to get over this other girl. It can be done. And remember, he's only human. He's only trying to heel himself. If you decide to give it more time, just be sure you are cautious. Protect yourself because there are no gauantees.

It sounds like to me that the guy is still in love with his past girlfriend, and it is hard for him to let go of her...

I think everyone does keep in contact with ex's to a certain amount, but not as much as guys do. I think they do it so that they have someone to fall back on if you break up with them... lol... pathetic! I had an ex contact me about 18 months after I broke it off, wanted to get back with me and I was like WTF!?!?!? I didn't want you then and I don't now!!! I think sometimes they are desperate :-)

it all depends on the girla dn on the guy. But i think mostly bc girls can let go easier...guys...ull have to ask my bro or soewmthing...but i always see it happeneing. when they break up with one girl, there is another by their side (actually their old girlfriend) so maybe the girls are backup plans. idk
