Sounds like you have a loose something. This may be started buzzing whenever the motor cuts in or out, that's why it'll be intermittent.

The obvious things to check are:

Something on top of the unit that may be rolling around.

The contents - are they stacked securely?

The plastic covers on the fronts of the shelves - is one loose?
Door and compartment lining.

The coolant piping that runs around the back of the compartment - is there a missing/broken clip or something else making the pipe loose?

Pipework in the back of the unit around the heat exchanger and pump motor.

Could be changing Cycles from frost to defrost.... I have a self defrosting freezer and actually called the fire department out to the house because I saw a red glow behind the freezer wall ... Come to find out it was just cycling between Frost and Defrost ... I felt so S-T-U-P-I-D but BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY... Call your repairman and have hin take a look-C

Do you have an Ice Maker? If so, it might be the ice maker lever inside the freezer not adjusted right.
