I have only had my braces for 7 weeks but I have ceramics (or clear) braces on the the top and metal on the bottom.

If what is being corrected is severe, invisalign will not work for you and it the most expensive option.

Ceramics are a lot cheaper than invisalign but a little more expensive than metal. This is a good option if you are older or do not want the metal look when you talk.

Metal are the least expensive of the three and now a days you cant get the standard silver color or gold. I have seen the gold and I am not a fan but it is an option.

If you choose metal or ceramic braces they are going to hurt in the beginning and a little after each adjustment. You get to choose color elastics (right now I have baby blue) and you will most certainly adjust your eating habits. That includes what you eat and how fast you can eat it.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!!

I have a full set of metal braces. Invisalign is cool, but you have to pay for the entire treatment up front. I guess it's because you could stop the treatment at any time by just taking them off (after you think your teeth are straight enoguh) and then stop going and paying your ortho. The "clear" braces (the ones with just a metal line across your teeth) I considered, but someone once said to me that people are always looking at your mouth when you are speaking trying to figure out if you have food stuck between your teeth or do you have braces. With the metal braces, it is obvious and is less of a big deal. That's why I went with metal
