okay, i had some issues at school, long story short, i was expelled. i am trying very hard to keep my education in tact, but now being homeschooled, i am a year behind.
my whole world crumbled when i was expelled, i was in all ap, going to graduate a year early, now i will be lucky to only graduate one year late. if anyone out there has been in this situation, let me know what you did, or how you moved a head. i am really upset about this, but i dont know how to fix it. my parents will not let me go back to school. (in a public school, i have to remain home schooled)

i am not a bad kid. my parents are angrey with the school system for expelling me over something sooooo minimal and something so incredibly stupid, that they dont want me to go back to the same school. and there are no other schools around here, for 15 miles, and i dont drive, the bus doesnt come out that far, and we are not moving.

The easiest way to "get ahead" in homescholing is to purchase a correspondence program, such as the one offered by the American School of Correspondence, out of Lansing, Illinois (708) 418 2800. They will look at your transcript from your previous school, give you credit for those subject you passed, (with the probable exception of p.e. and music) and sell you only the courses you need to graduate. If you call, they will send you an enrollment packet, free of charge. It is a very affordable program, and is nationally accredited. I have heard that Penn Foster is pretty good, too.
Then, you sit down with your courses, study very diligently every day, and soon you will be ahead again. With correspondence courses, you mail in your "open book" tests as soon as you finish them. Each course has about 8-12 tests. Do them carefully, for if you don't pass one, they just send you another test. Not the same one, and you have to do it again.
Unfortunately, the public school system is such, that, at least in our state of New Mexico, you can be on the honor roll and still be way behind academically. Many homeschooling parents have found this out to their horror. When they pulled little Johnny out of school to homeschool him, and gave him a placement test for a curriculum they wished to purchase, their little A-B student was a year or more behind by the 4th or 5th grade, using an ordinary curriculum with standardized tests. Then there is a lot of catching up to do.
Just being bumped up a grade and receiving a decent report card doesn't mean you've been educated. That is why so many kids have to take "bonehead math" or "bonehead English" -- the pre101 courses for no credit -- when they reach college, just so that they can be able to handle regular college classes.
Homeschooling your child is not easy. But it is challenging and fun, and it sounds as if your parents really care about you enough to make the sacrifices necessary for it to be possible. You can make it happen fast and fun, or force them to drag you through it kicking and moaning. Your writing, not your lack of attention to details such as capitalization or spelling, but your way of expressing yourself, shows that you are actually very intelligent. So cooperate and make it happen fast. God bless.

I was in some what of the same situation. Except, I wasn't expelled. I was pulled out of the school because I needed to focus on learning to run a household. So, as a result, I was also a year behind. Well, actually, I was about 2-3 years behind. Long story. Now, I am in AP classes, have a 4.0 GPA, and am taking a Science and Math class that is 2 grades above me. All it takes is a ton of commitment, motivation, hard work, and lots of coffee. So yeah, you will miss a few weekends (okay, so maybe not just a few...) hanging out with your friends, and yeah, you might be up until 4am studying, but it is all worth it. It doesn't sound like it, but believe me it is. And don't try to convince your parents to let you go back to school. I have been homeschooled my entire life and have not had a single socialization problem, if that's what you're worried about. Really, home schoolers are known to be smarter than some kids that go to public school.
You still have a chance to graduate a year early. When I was in 6th Grade, I was told to make a goal to graduate by the time I was 15 1/2. That might happen, might not. You still have a chance. It just takes hard work and discipline.
You asked, and we've told you. Easier said than done, I know, but you sound like a kid who really wants to make this happen. So make it happen. And no, you don't sound bad. Being expelled from school is a very bad thing, but that doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. Heck! You're asking how to make your education a possibility. How to fix it. Just be confident, and ask your mom to get lots of coffee. Believe me, that stuff can seem like magic at times....
Best of Luck!!!!!!!

The best homeschooling curriculum I've ever seen is the American School of Correspondence. Penn Foster is good, too, but I prefer the American School. You can do it as an alternative to what you are doing, and if you aren't a senior already, you can go back to school when they allow you back in (as long as you give notice to the American School). You will be able to call them and get help, if you need it.
If your problem is scheduling, try setting a timer for an hour. Do homework for an hour. Then, set it for about 15 minutes, and do something you like for 15 minutes. You need the time because if you don't set it, you'll be looking at the clock every 5 minutes and won't get anything done.

No, you are not a bad kid. Things happen, move on. Don't let this define who you are or where you want to go.
Now, the best thing to do is just buckle down. If this curriculum doesn't work for you, get another one. I would highly suggest a program with some accountability for you, an umbrella school that grades papers and issues report cards and transcripts. Check out ABeka or Texas Tech, something like that.
You can catch up, but you have to want to. No one can make you, not even a highly structured program.
My daughter uses Texas Tech and she will complete 6 highschool credits in 4-5 months, so if you want to catch up, it's do-able, but you will have to work year round.
Don't focus on the negative aspects of what has happened to you. Learn from it, let it strengthen you, then buckle down and get busy, ok?

Try to see if u can go to another school. I live about 20 miles from my H.S. because thats the only one around. In the morning i have to wake up around 5:30 get on the bus at about 6:55 (i have to walk up to the bus stop) and then at around 7:40 i arrive at the Elementary (the whole time i was driving on dirt roads and it takes like a little onder an hr even though the elem. school is only like 2 miles away form my house.) and then i get onto another bus and then from 7:40-8:08 i am on the bus going to my H.S. and thats with no stops. And then i get out of school at 3:00 wait outside in the cold or rain or sun (whatever season) untill my bus arrives at the H.S. at usually 3:30 and then ride the bus for a certain amount of time (not quite sure how long) to a restraunt in my town and then get onto another bus and ride that untill my house. I dont get home till like 4:30. Its alot of work but atleast it works.
I wasn't able to go to school in the 2nd half of 7th and the whole 8th grade becasue of a little "problem". But luckily fo r9th grade i can go to school again.
But im failing all my classes... second time taking sci. this year, world history failing, this semester sci jsut passing so far, english last semester incomplete making it up this semester to, and math i think im jsut passing. And i was getting bs before i was homescholled!!!
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Figure out what's important to you, your goals. Figure out a reasonable plan to reach them. Stop focusing on being a year behind and graduating late. Focus on what you want, not on what you don't want!
Also, as a homeschooler, you are still eligible, I think, to take AP exams. If you can somehow get a hold of the necessary materials, you might still be able to take the exams and get your advanced placement.

i'm also behind in my school work. i know this is gonna be difficult and it takes a lot (and i mean a LOT) of will power and determination but the best thing to do would be to double up the amount u do each day (u could do a little extra in one subject each day), work on the weekends (at least 2 subjects) and work through the summer. catching up is really difficult but u sound like u really want this and i think u can do it. keep it up!!! i hope u do well. email me of u want to talk more!! i wish u the best of luck!!!
