I seem to remember hearing a discussion about it which pointed to 1) OT prophesy, 2) NT prophesy by Jesus Himself referring to the three days, and 3) Jewish tradition which declared that a dead body was "unclean" after 72 hours, which may be similar to the reason why Jesus waited so long to raise His friend, Lazarus, from the dead during His ministry.

His soul had to remain long enough to provide proof that Jesus had become the sacrifice he said he would be, descend into Hell to proclaim victory over Death, hell, and the grave, then arise on the third day so that all could see he wouldn't be corrupted in His flesh OR glorified body. (It generally took about 4 days for a body to begin decomposing; this is why it was said about Lazarus when Jesus went to resurrect him, "Lord, surely he [Lazarus] stinketh")

why did it take Jesus 33 years to grow? God had to follow human nature. I wish somebody should have asked Jesus when he told them that he would die and on the third day he would rise. The bible tells us that Jesus died and went straight to hades where the souls of the dead went and he preached gospel there. Jesus could not get there untill he died. and there he unstripped the devil of his power and took the key from his hands and made spectacle of him. He rose with all power and dominion.

Jesus was not God. He is God's Son. (John 10:36) It was prophesied that he would be dead for 3 days before he was brought back to life. And that is what happened. God the Father is the one who resurrected him on the third day. (Gal. 1:1)

Well wookies don't come back from the dead, but Jedi do. Jesus was a Jedi, like Luke or Gui con Jin, and it takes a while for thier spirit, or Katra, to transform, 3 days exactly.
Jesus's body was taken to mount selia and the vulcan high priest did a ceremonial ritual to transform, or to ascend into heaven . . jesus's katra . .his spirit.
She used the force.

Because for three days Jesus went down to hell, and then rose from hell back onto earth. Then he ascended into heaven.

Sho-Nuff, it was because He went down to Hell and was there to witness to the lost and that's when He took the authority (keys) of Hell and death away from Lucifer.

because He had to suffer, His blood had to be shed, and He had to die, to save us from sin- He rose on the 3rd day victorious over the grave- so that we have hope that we too shall live forever with Him.
