Maybe a little....1400 calories is still a very minor amount of calories to consume. Your body burns about 3000 calories a day naturally....so I would expect any great great gain with this amount at this time...good luck and be careful.

well your resting metabolism is that amout of calories your body burns per day every lb of muscle burns 14 calories and a pound of fat burns 3 so the best way to get your resting matoblism up is to gain muscle mass, you can do that with exercise and increasing your protien intake. 1400 calories per day should be fine for weight loss unless you are a very small person, and a low calorie diet has been proven to be good for the heart. make sure those 1400 calories includes about 70 gram protien if woman and 120 or so for a man.

your body might take time to adjust. You must understand that we are animals by design. Before the days of fast food restaurants and grocery stores we had to forage for food. Our metabolisms are made to decrease in times of hardship and increase when food is plentiful. You are doing the right thing by increasing your caloric intake and meals per day. Your metabolism will adjust.
Just make sure that you add at least some type of regular exercise. Even a brisk walk is more than adequate as exercise. A very brisk walk can burn as much as 500 calories per hour.

Yes, you WILL gain a few pounds, until your body re-adjusts from the starvation level to near strvation level you are taking about.

In any case, you are still under eating, unless you are a VERY small person.
