Because religion is beyond opinion. When someone threating your opinions you defend yourself. When someone is threaten your faith, beliefs, (religion) you get angry. This is what you believe what you have been thought as the right, thing the meaning of life, and now someone is telling you your wrong. Just think how many wars have started because of religion a lot. Religion is the most popular and violent gang, colt, group of people in the history of the world.

Because unlike most of the other categories, questions on religion have the capability of upsetting one's deeply entrenched, emotionally binding core values and beliefs. Intelligence has a difficult time breaking through the layers of a lifetime of essential knowledge and belief. Thus, people provoke instead of question and react instead of answer.

It's not always like that, and I doubt it's the angriest.
No matter what section you are in, some are better equipped to handle people of opposite views questioning their beliefs than others.

You've obviously NEVER visited Immigration, Politics or Home Schooling sections.
Most of the stuff here is tongue in cheek or just general ornary-ness.

Basically the anger arises when people start bashing each other over religion and most of the tales related are not true

You should venture out sometime. You wanna see angry? Go to politics or immigration! This is nothing compared to how low those can go.

Some people think that because they "saw the light", everyone else is blind. But each one of us take the portion of light that his eyes can see. To transform this space in religious fights means to loose the opportunity of to learn whit our different points of view.
Thank you.
