This is actually a very old theory, sweetie. It's surfaced again because of this claim that they may have found his family tomb, and there is a son named Judah listed in there. If you're interested, the Discovery channel is showing this documentary on Sunday at 9pm Eastern time (http://discovery.com/tomb)

Regardless, does it really matter to you as a christian? Even if they find his bones, does the message change? If he had a child, does this change anything?

Most christians will simply call it all a hoax, and keep on believing no matter what. Some might question their faith because of it.
How it relates to you is all that matters. Do you follow the overall message or each and every word of the bible?

Anyway, I hope this helps explain the hullabaloo.

Remember that commonly accepted beliefs have been handed down for thousands of years. Just because they are commonly accepted as the "correct" interpretation doesn't mean they are, in fact, correct.

Is there any evidence that Jesus DIDN'T have a wife? If not, then how can one be so sure that He didn't?

There are some points in the NT that could lead one to believe that He may have been married:

1) Jesus's first miracle was turning water into wine at a wedding. Why was His mother in charge of serving wine at the wedding feast? Normally the groom's family had that responsibility. And if His mother WAS in charge of the wine...why did she come to Him when they ran out?

2) The scriptures tell us that Jesus often went into the synagogue to teach out of the scriptures. Jewish tradition & history tells us that only men were allowed to do this, that they had to "be of age" (30 yrs old), and that they had to be married.

3) When Jesus rose from the tomb, the first person who He appeared to was Mary Magdalene. Why her? Why not the leader of His church - Peter? Why not His mother? Why did He tell her to "touch me not...", since he let others touch Him later on? It's almost as if Mary's desire to embrace Him was different from all the other disciples'.

There are probably others - that's just off the top of my head. Yes, this is just speculation...but the clues do sort of pile up when you look at it as a whole.

Jesus was actually married three times. In order to be a Rabbi, and teach at the synagogue, it is required that he have been married, so get past that problem. His first wife was named Cypros, a Nabateen Arab and daughter of Cypros and Alexas. Together they had five children, Three boys Adminius, Guierious, and Caradoc, and two girls, Eigan and Gladys. His first wife's name is not mentioned in the bible, so don't go crazy looking for it...
His second wife was named Mary Magdalene, as unfortunate as it sounds there is some historical evidence to suggest that she may have been one of Jesus sister's. I can hear the collective jaws dropping of all the Christians, so get over it, this is what history, says, not my personal viewpoint. History does not record if they had children..
Jesus third wife was Aricia (Areddig), which is recorded in the Tactitus records as Cartismandus. There is no record of them having children either.

This is nothing but the latest installment of the semi-annual (just before Christmas and Easter) attach on Christianity. Think Gospel of Judas, Da Vinci Code, etc. It's true that not everybody brings these things out when they do to attack Christianity - some, like probably James Cameron, are mostly just trying to make more money by bringing them out when people are more interested in Christian things anyway.

For the tomb farce itself, follow these link and you will find lots more information, more than enough to shoot down this phony theory:

As for James Cameron's statement about it not being an attack on the resurrection, it most assuredly is. Anybody who says it's not doesn't know anything about Christianity. Christianity is not just a story about a guy who died because he said people should be nice to one another (contra what Douglas Adams thinks): it's a story about how God Himself incarnated and was tortured and murdered on a cross, then bodily rose from the dead. If Jesus did not really rise from the dead, but was buried in a tomb, then Christianity is false, and it's nothing more than just another pious story like all the rest of them.

Because people were afraid to challenge the church, if you remember the Inquisition. Someone most likely had these ideas but theu couldn't say anything because they would be called a heretic and killed. Nowadays the church isn't as powerful so people challenge it left and right. And is it so hard to believe that Jesus had a wife and child. life expectancy was very short back then he would havve gotten maried at a young age. Oh and since e have no information on the middle years of Jesus' life it is easy to see where these theories come from. My theory though, and its a good one, THERE IS NO GOD!

People like to spread gossip, controversey and artists love to make digs. Has it never occurred to anyone the Davinci and Michealengo were closet agnostics or just plain ornary like Andy Warhol and decided to put in some little things here and there that the Priests wouldn't notice immediatley. You know, what they called a GESTALT. An image that can be two things depending on how your preceive it.

Then you buy into it. It has a 50/50 chance of being REAL or Divinchi is rolling in his grave at your paper chase!

And people say RELIGIOUS BUY into FICTION AND FANTASY! Everyone is EQUALLY GULLIBLE! Barnum said it. One every minute!

There is no way to "prove" that the people in this tomb are the same people referenced in the Bible. However, given the culture and societal norms of the time, it seems a little ridiculous to think Jesus didn't get married.

The Bible never says anything about it, one way or the other.

Im muslim and we do believe in jesus as one of our prophets, but not the son of god. We dont believe he had a family even tho he was just a human being.

The whole debate came around in the christian world now cos Dan Brown wrote a book called da vinci ode. You should read it and research it if your interested. then you can draw your own conclusions. It is a fictional book with a lot of truth in it but also alot of lies. They uncovered a tomb thats supposedly his with a son also.

All comes from the suppositions from the story about Maria Magdalena, and that one of the apostoles looks like her (like a woman) on the painting by Da Vinci.

So now we think that he may have been a she, and I personally believe that the church people throughout the centuries altered Bible and hid some information, it is in the safes of vatican now, will we ever get access to it is a question.
