Take the train to Brooklyn and head to Grimaldi's - now THATs pizza! But if you can't, Arturo's Pizzeria on Houston St is wonderful and worth the line to get in. Coal fired oven, jazz music, and for some reason, a Bathtub in the restroom! We had the pepperoni there recently and it was awesome.

The best pizza in New York is in Brooklyn, not Manhattan. In the Midwood section is Di Fara's, in Coney Island, there is Totonno's, in Bensonhurst there is L & B Spumoni Gardens, and in DUMBO, there is Grimaldi's on Front Street (note that Grimaldi's is just on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge, so it is very close to Manhattan). I think that the best pizza in Manhattan is in Soho, at Lombardi's on Spring Street. Lombardi's was the first pizza place in New York, probably the first in the country.

I have to agree, better pizza is to be found in Brooklyn at Grimaldi's or L&B Spumoni Gardens.
However, there is an excellent pizza to be had in Manhattan:
John's Pizza in Greenwich Village is awesome. John's also has another pizzerria near Times Square, but the one in the Village is better. It's located on Bleeker Street.

Trust me with this...I travel the tri-state area with a friend looking for good pizza on occassion.

China city and Little Italy are walking distance from one yet another. you would be unable to bypass incorrect. stay faraway from the eating places that cater to vacationers. Ask absolutely everyone who lives or works contained domestically the place to consume without paying too plenty. Any pizza shop in NYC has good pizza. in the event that they did no longer they could be out of enterprise in a month. stay faraway from the franchise pizza like Godfathers, Domino's etc. in case you like a marvelous sit down dinner without spending way too plenty there are some marvelous small places in "The Village." in case you decide on for seafood take a journey to city Island interior the Bronx. great nutrition, great parts, honest fee.

Don't miss out on John's Pizza. There are a few of them but the best is the one in Greenwich Village, the original one. It's on Bleeker Street. However it does have a wait to get in, but it's worth it.

Definitely take the trip down to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. Near Grimaldi's you will also find "Junior's Cheesecake Factory" known to have the best cheesecake in New York, and Jacques Torres candy shop, all located within in walking distance. If you have to stay in the city, then I suggest "Two Boots" located at grand central as well as in Union Sqaure, both good shopping areas. If you want a place to dine and have some great sweets, then you should go to brooklyn.

I agree, Lombardi's is great! They are in the "Little Italy" area of Manhattan. If you have time, it's a good area to explore. Chinatown is nearby also.
