First off - I lost 125 pounds in 8 months (basically half of myself)
As for it being healthy, as a lot of people are mentioning here - my doctor did follow me thru this and I was Heathier on atkins and after then before! Before I was high cholesterol, high blood pressure (taking meds), boarderline diabetic. But - by following this plan I came off all medications and was so far away and out of being in the diabetic ranges the doctor couldn't believe it.
If you follow the lowcarb lifestyle the right way - which includes healthy carbs in the way of eating vegetables (and after you have reached your goal adding some fruits - you learn where your carb levels are before you start to gain again) - then yes it is very healthy. You must remember that this is not a *fad* diet - it is a lifestyle change. Its not a diet you go on and then go off. If you go back to the way you were eating before - after you lose the weight then yessssssssss you will gain the weight back again.
Lowcarbing is not for everyone - but for any overweight person that wants to lose weight, the thing is to find a plan that they can stick with for a lifeplan - not something you are going to go on and off again.
Congrats on your weight loss - have your doctor check you out and check your blood stats to see where you are standing.

If you feel great and your clothes are starting to fit better. Then good going. If you are worried that you may have lost to much weight to quickly or now that you have lost the weight are looking to make a life change to keep it off. While not depriving yourself of the things you love. I would really recomend checking out www.sparkpeople.com. It's a free site and will give you resorces that you really can't get anywhere else. People that are in the same boat as you are, they also have a fitness tracker, calorie tracker, healty life style scale, and they build a routine around your needs not the other way around. Good luck and God Bless! I'm happy to hear that you are feeling and looking better!

These diets are great for a short while but its keeping it off thats the problem, you would be better sticking to a healthy diet rather than these fad ones. I am pleased you have lost the weight and are feeling great but start looking after your body now, people can get very ill on these diets as it puts a lot of strain on your organs. You prob did lose it a bit too quick but its done now and you can start enjoying a healthy eating plan to keep it off and be good to your body. Well done x

As long as you've had your cholesterol and blood pressure checked by a doctor, you should be okay. The Adkins diet is high in meats and foods that your doctor would normally recommend you don't eat a lot of because they have have a serious risk of higher blood pressure. As long as everything checks out, you should be fine. I know people who lost 50 pounds on Adkin's, but they're doctor told them to stop immeditaley because their blood pressure was dangerously high. They then started to just eat healthy ... fruits, veggies, smaller portions, etc., and lost the weight a healthy way.
Congratulations for reaching your goal, but just be sure that everything checks out, and moniter your health VERY carefully when on any "fad" diet.

my mom lost 80lbs on it... her cholestrol shot through the roof! its not great, but this is the diet I did..... I do the high protien but I still try to avoid toooo fatty meats... its not a bacon diet! As soon as she got off it she gain it back and fast.... Start upping your cardio... Walk around the block 3 times a week. Slowly get back off of it dont bindge.... Make sure youre eating lots of veggies and fruits.. TAKE VITAMINS! they say average 2lbs a week..... I lost 30 lbs in 2 months... but not for the first then it fell off. Its more of an average. You want you body to use stored energy and that might take a while then it uses a lot.

Losing weight is the best thing you could've done for your health. Atkins is a very healthy way to do it too. If you aren't sure if you're still healthy, check with your doctor.
