Go to NA narcotics anonymous. Its a support meeting for people who are trying to quit and for people who have quit. I suggest you go before you are made to go. All it takes is one day at a time. good luck.

Well, if you can't seem to stop smoking the answer is quite simple then. You should quit work and smoke cannabis.

There maybe some issues to dissuade you from this, but I'm sure you'll work out some way to bypass these.

Let's see:
o Oh yes - no work = no money to buy cannabis. I'm sure your creative mind already has some plans to sidestep this little hiccup! Many others before you have embarked on a life of crime or opened hydroponic shops. I guess if you want to be straight you're still going to have to find some form of income and you may still have to moderate your smoking.

o Cannabis is illegal. You could campaign politically so as to legalize it. There is already a big groundswell of support out there, I'm sure you know most of them already so you wouldn't have to doorknock too much. I'm sure you could be the first stoned president or something. That would really be one for the history books.

The nicotine goes out of your system very quickly, and your lungs will show an improvement in around 8 hours. In about 3 weeks your fitness will improve. In around 6 months your health will improve. In 2 years your life expectancy will improve. I have given up smoking for 3 years and feel so much better, my lungs feel clear and I am good at sport. When I was smoking I could not run at all. If you can not give up the dope please ask to go to rehab from your doctor. Meanwhile, there are some helplines - ask citizens Advice or your local hospital.

It's probably the tobacco you likely smoke with it that causes an addiction, and that's hard to break, but you can join a group or see a dr for that, also, giving up whilst on holiday gives yourself some space to cope with doing without and hopefully you'll be able to keep it up when you get home.
The negative effects on your health (heart and lungs etc) as well as reactions etc start to show improvement after 24hrs. The cannabis will be entirely out of your system after 4 weeks / 1 month

You have admitted to the problem so you are already half way there.
Habits are difficult to kick, you must find out why you smoke it in the first place to understand what you are escaping from. Then work on that issue to gain strength, seeking professional help if need be.
You've made a start on the right path so keep going, it wont take long before improvement shows.

First of all be very proud of yourself for being able to admit that and know that hundreds of people have addiction issues and hundreds more have overcome them.
You have achieved the hardest part of your journey by accepting that you have to change what is going on because you do not want it to affect your life anymore. There are many ways to stop and they all depend on what it is you use your Cannabis for ie. relaxation, to stop worrying etc. What I suggest is you research all the different alternatives that are out there, join a support group such as NA where you find people like yourself who found themselves at the same crossroad and have overcomeand get suggests from them. These people will hold you up during this time, befriend you and never ever judge you. You will be surrounded by nothing but understanding acceptance.
Know you will be fine and that you are making a very healthy decision and be proud of that. Lastly ignorant and unhealthy people will judge you no doubt, even answer your question with cruel, uneducated, opinionated insults. Pity them for they do not know empathy and they too may someday find themselves at a crossroad and they may only find their own denial and others contempt. They are the saddest of us all.

You have realised smoking is effecting your life and that is an important start. See a local drug service for support and key working which will help you stop smoking in a convenient way. Look on your local council pages for Drug and Alcohol Team (DAT) details and they will put you in touch with the best help.

The chemical THC will stay in your body for up to 6 weeks so it may take this time for you to feel normal again and see improvements but stick it out and good luck.

Go on a stress free holiday and don't smoke. Holiday's will hopefully distract you from wanting to then when you come back seperate your self from it and poeple who do it.
Cannabis has a raft of long term effects, if smoked everyday it can make you paranoid, increase your chance of a brain tumour, make you moody. Your life isn't worth wasting on something so stupid...and it is stupid. Because you don't need it.
It also slows you're reactions. I think it take 7 days of cold turkey depending on how long you have been doing it. drink heaps of water and exercise to get it out of you system. It could take 6 weeks unitl you are copletely back to normal .

Compare your productivity and reaction time and the drop of a bad habit can come quite quickly.

The main key is to keep that drink on the weekend, or the holiday. Value your willpower more than your ability to break down to a inanimate object.

*Improvement can be shown immediately when intoxication wears off (given your not sleeping). But 2 or 3 days (since its a habit) with a clear mind and good sleep arent bad.

Joints are far more addictive than alcohol.because of the Nicotine
Stop smoking full stop or start using a bong neat and cut down.
Dont smoke weed during the day..have one at night to put you to sleep as for improvement never say never but thats the TREE
man I mean the man who goes thru that door never returns the same man
In my case I took the opposite course of action I stopped work.
[Try that..see how it goes.....

I know someone who smokes everyday and within about a week he was noticing differences in mood, energy, memory and so on.

If you want to stop I suggest seeing an alcohol and drugs unit. They'l give you support, won't judge and might be able to give you tips for giving up that you hadn't thought of before.

Good luck mate!
