I couldnt find a way to edit the question i already wrote but i think you will understand this one alot better......

me and my boyfriend moved into our own apartment 4months ago and we adopted a siamese kitten (her name is dakota) which is now about no more the 10months old, and just lastnight we were at petsmart and saw a 2 1/2year old siamese cat(his name is toby) and decided to adopt him as well, we got him his own food bowls and litter box. we have not had toby a full day yet but dakota keeps growling when she sees him and hisses when he gets close and my boyfriend is afraid that dakota wont like us any more and that she wont go back to normal (stop growling and hissing and let us pet her) he does not belive me that it will take time, they havnt even fought and toby hissed back only once.

thank you for your time

I guess both the young cats are neutered as most places do that before a cat is adopted out.

Tell your boyfriend that this is not going to be a problem. They should be happy with one another in a week and it is just a matter of time. Toby is probably not bothered at all by Dakota's hissing as male cats are usually pretty laid back and she will come round soon.

I had a cat for 3 years, then got a kitten. My cat did not like that at all. Hissed at her for a few days. I got real sick of it. So I put them both in a room together (w/food,water,litter) until they either stopped hissing and tolerated each other, or until they fought it out. No fighting occured. After about 5 hours, it was real quiet in there. I opened the door, and my cat was sniffing and licking the kitten. I left the door open. After about 2 days, when they think we're not looking, they'll run and chase each other. Patience is a virtue.

I've always heard that it's best to keep the new cat separate from the current cat for a few days. Keep the cat in a spare room with the door closed. The kitten will smell the cat and the cat will smell the kitten. Then gradually introduce them to each other for small periods of time. Having them together right off the bat will create hostility, in my opinion.

I kept my kitten separate from my cat when I first got her. There was a getting used to each other period but now they're fine. They wrestle all the time and chase each other but then other times they're all curled up together. My kitten even cleans my cat.

It's totally normal. Try separating them and letting them see each other gradually. It just takes time. I have a brother and sister cat that I adopted at the same time. One has long hair. I got him a lion cut last summer and his sister had a fit! She was hissing and swating and growling at him for like 5 days! It was really funny...wasn't funny at the time, but now it is. How crazy is that? Cats just aren't great with change and with someone coming onto their turf. But it will all change, they'll do fine!

Yes this is normal. WE have two cats ourselves. We had our other cat for almost 12 years. Let me get to the point. It started when our dog died and our cat didn't have any one around her for almost 10 months. My mom and i decided to get another kitten. She wanted Emily to have someone to play with. So when we got tori- we thought they would hit it off right away. Boy, we where totally wrong. Emily didn't want anything to do with her. All she did was growl and hiss at her. She didn't even want to be in the same house with her. We tried to keep them apart for awhile -but all em wanted to do was watch and hiss at her. It took them almost a year for them to become friends. Now they play together and they sleep on my mom's bed together as well. So you see- its going to take some time and patience for them to come around. Just give it some time. They will come around. PS. she was also mad at us for awhile too. But you have to teat them the same as you would treat a child that is going to have a new brother or sister.

The fleas gained't kill them if the infestation isn't to undesirable. maximum fleas shampoos you won't be able to apply until eventually the kittens are a minimum of 12 weeks. no longer particular about vet prescribed stuff yet i imagine it truly is in line with there weight. in case your truly worried about the fleas you are able to bathe them in blue sunrise yet you are able to wait some weeks because at this degree the kittens won't be able to regulate their own body temp yet. Ask a vet for advice yet even as my kittens had fleas they the position ok until eventually they the position previous sufficient to get flea bath or a topical flea product. it truly is no longer abuse in case your cat has fleas like somebody else stated. My kittens were given fleas because my roommates cat were given them from outside and my cat is a indoor cat. now to not coach I stay in south Florida the position the flea conflict is a all year issue the following. only save an eye fixed on them and momma, if momma begins loosing truly some weight and in no way eating sufficient to keep up herself and the kittens carry all of them to the vet asap. then you definately have a issue. reliable luck and income from the children!

Totally normal! The kitten wants the newcomer to recognise the pecking order. They may hiss and spit at each other for a while but they'll most likely become friends.

It'll take a little while for both cats to get used to each other. Just keep your eye on them.
