If you need braces, you wouldn't get them today. The ortho will give you a consultation first, and then discuss your options with you and your parents. You will most likely have to give impressions of your teeth, which isn't very fun. The ortho has metal containers rounded to the general shape of a person's jaw, one for top and one for bottom. Then he will put a type of putty substance in them and press them into your teeth to make an impression. You may also have an x-ray done, which is no big deal. Just don't expect to go home with a mouth full of metal just yet.

The braces won't go on today. Your first visit will be a consultation and exam. Your mouth will be x rayed, cost will be discussed, overbite, underbite any problems will be addressed. The doctor needs to look at your particular situation and make a plan for your treatment. You will more than likely get an impression of your teeth on the first visit. Sometimes you will need spacers first or possibly have some teeth extracted before the braces will put on. I can't think of any thing else that happens on your first visit. IN a nut shell the first visit is basically consultaion and exam. HOpe this helps.

You definitely won't be getting braces today. Sorry to disappoint you. I am also in the process of getting braces and my first visit was back on Feb. 8 and I still don't have braces. I have to get extractions today and then due to the fact that my orthodontist will be out of town, I am scheduled to get braces on 29 March. At your visit today, they will most likely do x-rays and take a mold of your mouth and then bring you back in about 2 weeks to discuss treatment. Let me know if I can be of further help. I wish you the best of luck and don't be nervous.

No no today, he will take moulds of your teeth so the braces can be made to fit you especially. He will see if you need any prep work done first, i needed 'spacers' (little rubber things put in between your back teeth to make room, they dont hurt) and teeth out by my own dentist first. It will be a while before you get your braces, like i say they need to be made first. Its so worth it all, good luck x

No they'll wait like a month before they give you braces. They do a mold on you teeth this time to see if you really need them.

no. what my ortho did was he let me choose what type of braces (silver, gold, clear,or silver with colors). he also took pictures of me from different angles as my "before" pictures. he will probably give you rubber spacers. they don't hurt much, so don't worry. i got braces one week after those spacers. he'll also tell you how long you will need braces. and then you will schedule an appointment to get your braces on.
