1. honesty
2. communication
3. respect for each other (this includes the family members you cant stand but your mate insists on having over)
4.always remeber what it felt like when you knew that this was the person for you ( I always remember that first kiss wow wee!)
5. it helps if you both have strong spiritual connections and can share that with each other.
I have been married for 11 years now and we have had many tough times but as long as i can remember what that first kiss was like i know we can work thru almost anything. YOu also have to be willing to forgive and to trust.
