My soon to be ex and I have my car lease inboth our names. He wants me to get his name off of the lease so his credit rating will go up. Right now he has 2 cars in his name. Does anyone know if this can be done? Or do I have to buy a new car?

Contact the lease holder and ask them if you can modify the agreement to place it in your name only. It's their call.

It can be done...I did it two years ago in the same situation. Hopefully for your sake your lease company is willing to help you. We just went in and had the finance company sign over the vehicle to me. I just had whatever amount that was left owed refinanced under my name. A tip that I was told: Make sure that in signing it over, you state that it is a GIFT from him to you. This is for all puposes including the transfer of the vehicle and the tags and such. If it is considered a GIFT, then you have less fees applied. Ofcourse that was two years ago, so I don't remember the exact reasoning behind it, but I do know it saved me a few hundred dollars at the license plate agency. Good Luck!
