Are there any benefits to using to this type of instead of wholemeal flour.

I guess the main advantage is that it is easier to digest than other grains. It is a good alternative for those who are allergic to wheat. For me the main disadvantage is that spelt flour doesn't rise as well as other grains. It is also a lot more fussy to work with - too little or too much mixing or incorrect amount of liquid can ruin the finished product. Since I don't have problems with grains of any type, I prefer whole wheat flour.

both flours are richer in fibre than the regular white flour. And they're unbleached. In reality you want to use as many different flours just to get variety in your diet. You need to make sure that whatever flour you're using is not 'enriched' with other substances. It' s always better to have control of whatever you're putting in your stomach...
