Hi real live nurse here. The answer is NO! Varicella is passed in a respiratory manner. You can only contract it if you never had had it and came into direct close physical contact with someone else who has it thats it. It does not have a vector. I am a nurse who has cared for many people with chicken pox and other patients and it never has spread from patient to patient. I hope this puts your mind at ease.

If you were in close contact with the person with chicken pox, and then went straight to your niece and nephew without washing your hand, showering, etc, then yes, The virus could spread to them using you as a carrier. but if there was time, like a day or two between, and/or you showered ,washed your hands and stuff, then it's less likely that the niece and nephew could contract the chicken pox

mom's who decide out of the chicken pox vaccine choose their newborn to get chicken pox until now puberty as a results of fact chicken pox is extra intense the older you get, and for women contracting chicken pox during the 1st trimester or final month of being pregnant could have intense consequences. there is an apprehension that as a results of fact different teenagers have the chicken pox vaccine their newborn won't seize it with no little help. mom's who do get the chicken pox are playing that it works, that they do no longer later discover out that folk choose extra booster pictures than they thought (which has befell back and back with different vaccines) and that their infants gets the boosters while they substitute into adults. Or of course that there is "herd immunity" -yet as countless the recent outbreaks of whooping cough interior the united kingdom of strains *no longer* coated with the help of the vaccine have shown viruses are smarter than vaccine manufacturers.

just because you had it once does not mean you wont get it again. as an adult it is more dangerous and very infectious shingles can be very painful for most adults. do you show signs..yes and you may... no signs .. no you wont be passing the virus on to them.

Are you having it right now?
It is the most contagious when the blisters dry up and fall down.
