I don't agree that peoples religious opinions should be spared criticism. We criticize each others political opinion, opinion on sports, economics and any other subject.
Why should religion be out of bounds?

You wanna talk about degrading? Why don't you look at the legitimate atheist questions that are posted here, and see all the insulting comments that they get. Atheists get so much slack for not believing in anything. For some reason, every christian in the world is trying to save us when we don't want to be saved. We come here for intelligent debates and conversing with people of other religions in order to get a better insight into other religions and cultures. We don't have to convert to learn about other religions. And just because we are atheists, doesn't mean that we cannot respectfully converse with theists. But its people like the ones you mentioned (and its not just atheist, mind you) that turn Yahoo Answers into some sort of competition on whose religion is the best and whose religion as the most intelligent people. Its quite ridiculous if you ask me. I have absolutely nothing against religious people, its the ones that try to push their religion onto me that get on my nerves.
We are constantly degraded because we don't believe in a higher power or God. We are stereotyped and slandered all the time. Many people seem to think that just because we have no God, it means that we are all criminals or devil worshippers, and that we have no morals. Its quite disgusting, the assumptions that people make.

I am an athiest and I would never degrade someone else because the thought differently than I do. That is what they believe in and who would I be to belittle them for any reason. I accept people as they are.

I have just seen your question on the yahoo answers homepage. It's title is intended to gain the views of aetheists.

On another point surely the topic of a divine creator is open for intelligent discussion. I do stress the 'intelligent' part of that though.

Instead of worrying about what atheist do, worry about what your own kind do. Why aren't you attacking the KKK instead? Preventing sharia law? Honour killings? Speaking out against Nazism?

If you and all the other godbots in the world were to make an effort to clean up their own house AND to keep your religion out of government and schools, you wouldn't hear a peep of criticism. Complaining about atheists instead of addressing the real issue of religious crime proves that you don't care about pedopriests, you don't care about the taliban. Your words against them are just lip service.

If you believe that any or all religion is exempt from scrutiny or questioning, then you are delusional beyond the point of reason.

Religion is now a parody of itself. All most atheists are doing is holding up a mirror to those who believe.

think you pretty much covered it.

Be nice to people!

some peoples questions or answers are set deliberately to get a response, looks like they succeeded in getting one out of you.

try to enjoy yourself here, help people and get help on anything you need, homework if that still applies to you.
It is possible to make a few friends

In a sense that is the way that atheists preach. They accuse Christians of preaching too much, but they do the same thing.

If any group of people think they are so great, they should let their lifestyle do most of the talking.

Because people need to hear these things and come to the right conclusion before these ancient superstitions get us in any more trouble.

Bit specific to one person?
Not all 'non belivers' belittle others.
You believe what you want, just don't try to indoctrinate me.
I'm happy in my own world.
