It depends on what the drug is, how much you have, and whether you are a user or a dealer. It also varies depending on what state you are in. A lot of states have sentences of life imprisonment for dealing cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and the like. So the penalties for dealing can be very strict. For users it depends on how much you get caught with and how many prior convictions you have. Small amounts of marijuana will usually only get you fined and maybe probation. Small amounts of harder drugs will usually get first time offenders fined and probation. But, repeat offenders can get jail time.

Depends on what drugs, what you were doing when arrested, etc. However, if you are arrested, and are rich enough to pay for a really good lawer your sentence will be better. If you get a public defender you could get more time than a convicted murderer. You know, money talks.

depending on the type drug and the amount of the substance, I don't think it is to bad though, I reside in Ohio, and You, and if you would like additional information, feel free to contact me. I would love to discuss it further with you. It is a hot topic and I could see why anyone with some since would be interested as they affect all of our lives (script-or otherwise)
