i was wondering this because latley ive been getting alot of strange phobias. and im not even sure why they are poping up all of a sudden. like its really odd things to be afraid of. such as:
clowns
ballons
spiders
heights
large groups of people
small rooms
people walking or sitting behind me
thunderstorms
darkness(sometimes)
airplanes/helicopters
large bodies of water
boats
over passes
curves(like in the road)
is it normal to be afraid of these things? like its the oddest things to be afraid of. whats next? me being afriad of spoons? so if you have any phobias how do you over come them throught the day.

Mine started when I was real little -I was very afraid of Smokey The Bear. I thought Santa was a big-white beared weirdo-that just tried to get little kids to sit in his lap, I knew he wasn't real so what was he doing really??? I thought a witch lived under my bed and would bite my feet if my toe even grazed the edge of the bed. Now that I'm older, I have a phobia if I'm in small rooms with lots of people. Oh! forgot I did not like clowns either. They were just plain terrifying to me. I used to be afraid to stand up in front of people and speak not to mention sing now I do both, and My total inspiration came from a near death experience, that made me so wonderfully happy to be alive that I couldn't help but share that inspiration and Miracle to boot with everyone that came along. A Pastor of our church encouraged me to start singing, he knew I played the guitar but was terrified just the same , but that near Death experience woke me up from alot of my fears and since that day I am so happy tobe alive and know what I survived-it helped me believe in my self and know that if I could make it through all I went to -to survive- that I Could Do Anthing!!I believe alot of our fears come from things that happen to us or I could swear some are genetic-Most fears I had came from my child-hood when I was molested by a much older cousin, and I never told anyone until now. I can't believe I just did that. Thanks for asking.I always knew that's why as a child I feared men, especially ones's in costumes. The fear of being in small rooms with lots of people, I've yet to get over that one, sometimes it just seems worse than others. I just try to breath and stay calm and focused. most people say facing your fears will help, I'm not so sure that is true in all cases. maybe some.Oh and I do fear dirty spoons when we eat out I always wipe my spoon consistantly, that 's probably more of an obession or maybe fear of germs. don't know!Maybe Just plain crazy.

I have a phobia of heights and spiders. It is normal to have phobias of many things, but having a phobia of spoons may be overdoing it.

I was terrified of the ocean, saw Jaws at 4. Learned to surf, now I'm more comfortable in the water than on land.
Within reason, confront fear, it's often worse than reality.
