Exercise regimes vary tremendously from breed to breed – what may be suitable for a Newfoundland at one year of age for instance is not going to be suitable for a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. It is best to take expert advice on this matter from either your dog’s breeder or the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Club. The secretary of the club is Mr J Beaufoy (01299 403382)

I agree with Beano. Except if you work, you can only do morning and evening. Make the walks about 1 hour each. And it's really true that when you walk your dog, you bond in a way that you cannot do at home. This kind of bonding is basically your dog building trust and respect for you. You are the pack leader. But in name only, until you are tested in how you handle the pack in the outside world.

30 minute walk in the morning

45-1 hr walk in the afternoon

20 minute walk in the eve

"The Walk" is the most important exercise you can do for your dog; it does two things for you and your dog. 1) gives him stability, exercise, and calmness. 2) gives you leadership. With you dog you might want to put a (dog pack) on him w/ weight. That will make him/her work extra hard. Your dog wants to work for his status in the "pack" failing to do this can only cause you un-wanted behavior.

I think that most dogs should have about 45 minutes a day - That is what I try to do. There are days that it is just not possible. But I shoot for 45 minutes a day.

I find if you try to squeeze about 2 or 3 days exercise into one day it's probably best. So about 48 hours of solid exercise each day should just about keep him fit, thats what i do with my woofdy
