Lots of different answers...

I checked on my SKY+ HD box which has a 80GB hard drive. 25% of the space are in use and adding the movies together, they are about 10 hours long. All of them are recorded in standard definition.

So an 80GB harddrive will give you 40 hours of recording in standard definition, a 160GB hard drive will give you 80 hours as confirmed by these guys http://www.xtendedplay.co.uk/sky-hard-disk-upgrade-kit-160gb-drive-p-48.html
so out of a 40GB hard drive you should get roughly 20 hours of recording.

I hope this helps.

depends on the size of your hard drive.....

BUT it will use 4gb per hour on a digitial input therefore

80gbs = 20hours recording
160gbs = 40 hours.

hope this helps wg
