Obsessive eating is just as much an eating disorder as anorexia and bulimia. However, just like its counterparts it can be overcome either through medical help or a strong will power.
Personally, I think you can do it just by improving your will power. A few ways to do this include number one... don't lose weight to look good. Find other reasons to motivate you to shed your pounds. Improve your health, prevent future problems, be able to play with your kids, etc. Second, whenever you get the urge to eat junk recite a little phrase, "Eating a cookie isn't as good as thin feels." Something like that.
I also keep a really bad picture of myself on my fridge and in my bathroom. A little negative reminder to go with my positive ones. Whenever I see that picture and then I look in the mirror and see how great I look now, my urge to eat vanishes.
Once you have started to increase your will power, start small. Add veggies, don't eat after 8pm, drink 64 oz of water daily, walk 20 minutes in the morning. Then work your way up. A complete hard core revamp of your lifestyle is difficult to stick with if you do it all at once. However, when you gradually ease into it you'll find you've changed your lifestyle rather than just started a "diet".
Don't forget, have faith in yourself! I know I do!

Hi there, I really struggled to lose weight through healthy eating etc cos I just loved junk food so much. A friend put me onto a nutritional weight loss guy and I lost 72 pounds in six months. I thought at first I was going to have to pay a fortune but I havent spent any more money than I did previously. It wasny always easy but the protein based diet kept me feeling full, even though I didnt think shakes could work for me taking two a day and eating my regular dinner at night. But I was wrong, the shakes and supplements kept me going and actually improved all aspects of my health at the same time. I am a habitual snacker so I also had some protein bars so if I did get need to snack the at least I did so in a healthy way. The place I used was myhealthabc.com, they probably saved my life, no exageration there, I was totally out of control. You can even get some samples before commiting to anything else and there is no minimum term you have to stay with them or anything like that. Thye also teach you how to eat better when you get to your weight goal and how to stay healthy. I hope this helps, good luck. Lucy

Hi well the good thing is if your are asking this question you have the desire to change things, that's got to be good, maybe you should seek counsel ling to find out why you are over eating in the first place, you know sometimes when we are sad about something the person we punish the most is ourselves. so that might be the place to start. losing weight is all about burning up what you put in, so start by changing what you eat rather than the amount, lots of fresh fruit and veg, cut out the high fats and carbs, if your weight is a problem when it comes to exercise then just do gentle movements while sitting, moving your arms and legs, when this is easier then add something else, dance to your fav, music, first to one song then two, your fitness will improve, check yourself into your doctors for advise, get a friend to encourage you, go walking with you any thing- if you can afford it get a private trainer or go to the local pool, gym find an activitiy you like and do it. Be good to yourself. Good luck, keep us posted why not to an on line diary of how you are doing, might give you motivation !

I found a great way to lose weight fast and keep it off. I do body cleansing. I lost 13 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. Cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurites come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives etc. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To shrink the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. To learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. Cleansing was good for me. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://thebestcleansingdiet.com

I lost over 165 lbs from my highest to my lowest weight. It started out as a decent diet and exercise plan, but then it just became more and more. I too, obsessed over food. It went from one end of the spectrum to the polar opposite. 2 years after reaching a healthy weight, and I still have heart and liver complications along with osteopenia. Not to mention the mental side effects.
I guess what I am trying to say is to be careful. Enlist the help of a nutritionist and your doctor. They can determine the right type of meal and exercise program for you and can plan out how much weight you should lose in a given period of time. Going overboard on a diet can lead to a lifetime of hell.

I lost a lot of weight in a quick amount of time. I wouldn't recomend it so rapidly. Because I almost hurt my body. An I didn't lose weight because I wanted to. Should start off slow. An lose what you want to loose. An this link shows you what to eat. http://www.military.com/NewContent/0,13190,Smith_083004,00.html I heard in a day you should always have Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and snack. An exercise to. But best to talk to a doctor, or if you have a gym you go to, a dietician, or food nutrionist. Good luck.

I have lost over 60 pounds an I have done it by learning the proper way to do it. First don't go on a diet but instead focus on replacing the processed foods that you are eating right now with unprocessed and natural foods.
second, you don't need to join a gym or get a structured exercise plan at first, you just need to become more active. and most importantly, you need to focus on yourself, you need to find out if the changes that you are making are having an effect. you have to measure your progress.
keep doing works and discard what doesn't.
if you need more advice you can email me directly, I'll be glad to help you.

I lost over 70 pounds doing the plan called feed the muscle, burn the fat. You can eat as much as you want of the right foods. That's what makes it so cool for overeaters like you and I.

to see what I mean. You'll be glad.
