dont want to upset our manc friends but its a no contest, london always has been and always will be the capital. have a look at the major attractions in england, how many are in london and how many in manchester, who has the wealth were are the most expensive properties london is a major player in the world let alone england.

Yes lets have a capital that is in the far south of the country. Why do people think the dome was such a flop. Who wants to travel 400+ miles to see it. Watch this space, as london screw up the olympics. Why was manchester, who had already proved themselves, not put forward by the government. It is more centrally located and if the south continues to develop they can expect more droughts etc.

Manchester is fine but it can feel a little run-down at times. I think it's getting better all the time though. London is so huge that you can't really compare them. I visit Manchester a lot but find the women to be a bit tarty in their dress sense compared to London.
I personally love going to visit Birmingham - the nightlife is great, the bars and restaurants near the new canal development is beautiful and the people are lovely.
