I stopped my credit card because I did not trust a certain company.
This company was meant to give me a refund, I stopped the card because I thought the company would take more money. The credit card company confirmed that the refund will go back on the stopped card.
The company have now managed to debit the money again on the card, 3 days after it stopped!!
Who is in the wrong?

what are you on about shinatama,
when you cancel a card then no payments should go through. If you dont cancel the card and payments go through then you are liable, about 'read terms and conditions' surely it does say something about terms and conditions if you dont stop the card!!! :P

** I spoke to the credit card company and they confirmed that the company can still refund the card even though the card was stopped

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, it sounds like gross incompetence on their part, nothing more, and the fact that you have stopped the card already should work in your favour.
If you can't get this sorted out, contact the Financial Services Ombudsman for advice.
If you didn't owe money on your card and were not in breach of your credit agreement, they are most certainly in the wrong.

I think it is you who is wrong.
You 'stopped' the card but companies can usually only refund via the original payment method (including the actual card used to pay) so this is what they did, refunded the amount to the card used to pay. Did you actually tell the company doing the refund that you had cancelled the card, so they knew not to process the refund that way?
If payments/refunds were pending, the card will not have been actually cancelled until all transactions were finalised so I presume this is what happened.

If you put a stop on the card and not just the payment, then the issuing credit card company is at fault. They should reimburse you any costs incurred because of their incompetence.

Definitely the credit card company at fault. I'd phone them up and request to speak to a supervisor and insist that you're refunded whatever was taken off.

The transaction was pending prior to you canceling the card, so that is why the charge went through.
For future reference, you can do a stop payment on automatic withdrawals.
Also, refunds do not always go back on canceled cards.

you've got to call them again! Also talk to a credit reporting company and find out what you can do to protect your credit while you are disputing this!

You should read the contract and terms of conditions carefully before you make your judgment.
