I am allergic to nickel. But many of my favorite earrings that i have are not nickel- free. If I wear them for one day i get an itchy irritation. Is there some kind of coating i can put on the metal part of the earrings to stop the nickel from coming in contact with my skin?

Just rub a bit of antiseptic cream on the back and front of the ear lobe. some of the cream goes into the pierced part, and sets up a barrier for infection, such as itch etc.
Do this a few times throughout the day.
Savlon, or similar cream. I use this method, when I want to wear a favorite pair of earrings that cause a few problems.
I guess gold is the best, due to it's purity.

I am allergec to nickel too. First of all, don't wear nickel backs, switch to plastic. And I don't know much about the itchy part, cuz I had a different reaction to it, (big, oozy, swollen bumps) but the plastic backs should help.

I put 2 coats of clear nail polish on the put that touches my skin. It does wear off so you have to keep reapplying it. It helps a great deal.

I heard that painting clear nail polish on them could help....but it doesn't really. I have had to throw away all my earrings that have nickle in them and replaced them with surgical steal. It's the only thing I know to do.
