Does transition lens lose it's effect if scratched? Please help.?

I scratched my transition lens today and i have yet been able to find out if scratching it make that particular spot lose its colour changing effect and it is now night time ... therefore i am keen to know if scratches make a significant impact on transition lenses. Thank you so much for anyone who can answer my question with knowledge.

photo chromatic lenses are either made of glass or of plastics(polycarbonate). both categories will not loose its photo chromatic effect when scratched.
