There are more scriptures that speak of praying for others, than you find about praying for yourself.

How much more of our time should we devote to those around us?????? Do we do all we should do for those around us?? God has given us infinite joy, shouldn't we give more to others???

Yes, we should give more for others. No, we don't do all we could (generally speaking). Some people do, praise God for that. But we have great examples of how to pray in two prayers of Jesus. One prayer was his teaching on how to pray (Matt 6:1-15), the other was his prayer for His disciples when He was soon to leave them (John 17).

There is nothing in either prayer about just me. There is so much about "us", and "them". Psalm shows that it is right to approach God about "my" situation at times, especially when things are tough. To ask Him to keep my feet in righteousness, etc. But even then, to fit with the model prayer of Jesus, wouldn't it be best, in difficult times, to remember that someone else is also in great pain, and when I pray for help, to pray for 'all those' who are going through similar things?

Praise God for Jesus and His great example.

A person of pure faith would spend all their time praying, then take credit for anything good that a man of action MADE happen. Of course it wouldn't be the faithful's fault if something BAD happened...he'd pray to fix it....but if it doesn't get fixed...hmmmm....must just be god's will, nothin' to do about that, pray about something else I guess, until I find something we agree on! You want to spread joy, get off your knees, lift your head up, and look around...you'll see someone you can help. Prayer is a waste of time, and in my opinion, should be a clinical symptom of schizophrenia, so we could lock up a few more zealous nuts and make this world a little better place to live.

A person of pure faith, would know faithfully that even without asking God will provide that which is needed, hence, they will go forth to pray for others if they are unable to physical/financially help or go forth to assist in making more joyful the lives of other around them as Jesus Christ had done all through his ministry

And because, they are faithfully doing what needs to be done... by praying for others, they are invariably also blessed by the good Lord.

You pray more for them around you, because we are a Christian, & we don't know how many there are out there that is not a Christian, But still we are to pray for ourselves & our loved ones. I hate to say, But the praying days is just about over, No there is still some time left. But once Jesus Opens that 7th seal In Rev. 8;1 & Rev 10:1 That brings Jesus off the mercy seat But keep on praying until then.

You should pray for others more than yourself. When you do pray for yourself, you should concentrate on praying for the forgiveness of your sins and finding the strength not to sin again. You should ask for all good stuff to other people you know need it. God bless you. It's a very good question.

If one has pure faith they would pray to God not just for their needs but also as they would talk to their friends they would also talk to their best friend in prayer and imitate Jesus in every way possible, he prayed to his Father often not only for his needs and the needs of others he did do that too but he prayed to God as his friend more than he prayed about anything else he prayed to converse with his best friend and hisGod and his Father. what a wonderful example he set for us in the relationship that he continued with his friend and Father(1Peter2:21)

depends on why you are praying. if you are praying because you think someone/something is listening, give it up and do something practical. if it helps you hypnotize yourself to pray, then do what you gotta do. you're going to need to decide on your goals, either way.
