Yes, but unfortunately it`s got to be a photograph of yourself.

Wear a color shirt that is flattering to your skin tone. The best is usually blue is you are Caucasain, which your Avatar appears. Stay away from reds as they tend to highlight broken blood vessels and uneven skin tone.

Do not let the camera be positioned under you. Photos should always be taken from slightly above so the lens is angeled slightly down. Not dramatically so, just slightly. If the lens is shooting up the first thing it catches is under your chin, not flattering for anyone no matter how thin.

Do look directly into the lens, but don't stop there. Look through the lens, as if you can see some magical world on the other side. If you have a good imagination start to actually "see" something there. It will give you a sparkle in your eye. Looking through the lens as opposed to into the lens is the difference between your gaze falling flat and making eye contact with the photo viewer.

Make sure you are not shiney before stepping in front of the camera. Most beauty supplies have rice paper which is great to blot with right before you take the photo. Get your t-zone, leave your cheeks alone. T-zone = shiney if you powder your cheeks you are taking the natural color out of your face making yourself look pale or dead.

Check for fly away hairs. It doesn't hurt to wet your hand and run it over the crown of your head from front to back.

I know that's a lot, but you asked : )

there are places that take the photos for you, Like CLICKS or other photo processing places. they will have a sign up saying if they do passport photos

These places will know about the current regulations on how a passport photo should look, rather than doing it your self in a booth, and having your pic refused. Most of these places use digital cameras now, and will only charge for the one set, which you send off.. they are often cheaper than a photo booth too.

My wife insisted on a good passport photograph, not the usual convict ID. She got great service at Jessops where they took several shots and allowed her to select the one they printed off. Same price as a convict ID too.

I went to a professional photographer's studio. The guy took several, but I didn't like them. He was very happy with his work, and it was good work, but it was not me. I ended up using my digital camera at home. Took a lot of pics until I decided on one of them. But I didn't print at home. I emailed it to a photo print service (Riteaid). The passport agency accepted the pic no problem.

The passport office http://www.passport.gov.uk/general_photos.asp specify what they deem to be a good passport photo. Just follow what they say and you will be fine.

I wouldnt bother doing it yourself its about 2.50 and for 3.50 you can get the photographer at a local chemist to do it. They will guarantee its perfect for the passport office. My daughter had hers done and we took it back becuase Liverpool office said it was too close, they did it again for free as they guarantee it. Its worth the extra quid, good luck.

For me - stay normal and make sure you are going to have a photo- your mood is fine as the face can easily reveal the mood of a person..
