pets can have a sense of the emotional states of the people they live with, since a female goes through hormonal changes which may have an effect on her emotional state, a cat may respond to this. this is true wheter the cat is neutered male or female. this is the same as the way people can tell changes in the mood of their freinds. it really has nothing to do with the period, but more with the relationship and how emotions play into it.

neutered or not of course the cat can smell if a woman is on her period but a cat is not going to get excited when he smells it. Humans give off a different smell than cats or any other animal gives off which attracts the male . Thats why animals dont go around jumping humans.

No. I once reared a dog and a cat. When the dog went on heat,. my male cat is not the least perturbed.
