I have tried to do this using Nero but it just wont play on my normal dvd player, can anybody help?

you can transfer it over to work on a stand alone DVD player useing the program Pinnacle Studios and then you can actually make menus and stuff useing Roxie Burning.

if you have a good cd burning software it should burn the AVI file in the SVCD or VCD section of your burning software.

Try burning it as a SVCD project or VCD project onto a normal CD-R
then that will play in your dvd player

I agree with Jeff.

Burning a avi to a DVD without encoding it first won't work.

VCD is your best bet.

maybe ur dvd player cant read ur dvds coz u might have burned them at a higher speed try at lower speeds...if the problem stillo persists then try some othere softwares like tht of cyberlink

first you should encode your avi to mpeg2 dvd comliant file then create video_ts folder and burn it to dvd.
you can download and use ulead dvd movie facotry it has a free one month trial and i will do all the above to you.

i suggest that you convert it first using WINAVI. http://www.winavi.com/ it converts videos into different formats. dvd, vcd, avi, mkv, rm and A LOT MORE! you won't get disappointed! then you burn your converted video using burning softwares like NERO.

try to find WINAVI for free here in the web.
