Well, it depends on your religon and if you even believe in heaven or hell. Everyone is going to come up with a different answer according to their beliefs. But, to answer your many questions:
1- No, god won't ask you why you didn't thank him before going to bed. Just thank him during the day!
2-On Judgement day god will decide who will go 2 heaven and hell according to their deeds

Rev.20:1-6,12,13;
The heavenly for the new heavens Rev.3:12; that are with Jesus have judged themselves as did Jesus Heb.9:14-16; they all died for the word of God. They resurrect the earthly for the new earth, where all will know the word of God.
John 47: If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
John 48: He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge; the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day.

If there is a God I think that no matter what religion you are, as long as you have done good deeds, there will be a place for you. I dont think that you have to go to church, pay your sunday dues, not eat meat on fridays and that to get in good with the big guy.
If you are truly a good person there will be room for you.

God doesn't judge you on weather you Say your prayers every night... giving thanks before you go to bed, before eating and stuff, is not a ticket to heaven, its a sign to him that you are grateful for all that he has given you. it's just like saying thank you to your parent after they give you something. its not to get more of something, its to show them that you love them, and appreciate what they've done for you...
of course, this is only my belief.. I don't know if some churches have an official stance on it that's different than my opinion...

No, even i don't practice praying at night though i'm a conservative Christian. Better if you do. Bcoz i always think that G-d knows my msg to him, so why should i contact Him? But sometimes it's really helpful to use His Holy Name.
