Keep calling him is the only thing you should do for the moment. This shows him your sincerity to get things sorted out as soon as possible. If he really cares and loves you, he'll definitely pick up the phone. Allow him to get mad, to scream, do everything he wants, etc. but never hang up his phone. He'll feel much better after expressing what he feels, then you both can start to talk about what happened; slowly leads to apologies and hopefully sweet memories of your argument. In a relationship, one has to tolerate the other during times like what you are experiencing now. Think back of what you both are quarreling about, maybe things aren't so serious after all. Think the both of u should cool off 1st. Contact him again when u come back. No point keep calling him. He will feel annoying. By the way, you need to find out the reasons y the both of u ended up in bad arguement whether the reasons lie on you or him.

did you leave a message apologizing if that's the intent of your call?
you cant make anyone stop being angry they have to do so in their own time. now, if he knows you are leaving and is still acting silly, then that's a whole different issue, because no argument is worth not seeing your love off, when they're going away.
you are offering a peace token. if he doesn't want to accept it, do your thing. if he calls you while you're away to talk, that's up to you. but it sounds like he expects you to bend over backwards for him and that's just selfish. all you can do is try. if he doesn't respect it, don't let yourself worry about it.

Go and find him, either go to his house or turn up after his work or school. Tell him to his face that you really want to sort things out with him then he cant ignore you. Maybe he is being like this because he dos'nt want you to go and it makes its easier for him to let go if you leave on bad terms rather than good!
