the problem as well you know is, which is worse racism or bigotry.
you can't trade off vices, if motherwell were banned, a good solicitor could argue discrimination.
feminism, racism, bigotry in fact all the categories that we use to target sections of the community can not be graded on a scale of tolerability, but yet at least 4 times a season we hear unbelievable, acceptable chants during the old firm.
which is the more severe ? if i call you a short, fat, balding, paddy with one eye, put them in order that hurt you !!!
you know i love ye and I'm not about to hurt my mates, I'm just making a point to get the 10 points cause of my embarrassing low score.

You can variously hear one of more of racist, sectarian or (less often) homophobic abuse from the odd individual at just about any game at any level where there is more than a few hundred present. It is less than it was 20 years ago (at least in terms of the racist and sectarian chanting) and credit must be given to all clubs and fans for standing up to this unacceptable face of football. This was achieved overwhelmingly without the need to invoke harsh sanctions against clubs.
Motherwell reacted promptly with a statement condemning the actions of the idiots that saw fit to abuse Jason Scotland. They will ban the perpetrators from the ground. What more can they do.
To my best understanding it was the first time in years that this kind of incident came to national attention at a Well game and as such there is no way they should be disproportionately punished.
I do not want to expose my wee boy to such behaviour when I begin to take him to games but I know it will happen occasionally, though will be nothing to what it was when I started to watch games and that is a credit to all true fans.

No I don't think you should be banned from the cup due to a few narrow minded people like racists. If that was the case, Ranges and Celtic would be thrown out, as we have our fair share in the old firm. But every club has these idiots and you only have to stand in a ground in any division and you'll hear something offensive.
You can only hope the good honest fans of Motherwell F.C do the good thing and name and shame the scum bags responsible. I personally think they should be charged by the police and not just banned from football grounds. These people are the scum of the earth and it's time we set an example of them and rose above it in Scotland.
Otherwise in time we will just be collectivley grouped with nations like Spain where it gets a profile and gets so far out of control, it will take grenrations to eradicate.
The tartan army especially have come a long way in a short time and have promoted the true values and beliefs of the nations football fans. Let's get these people out of our game, and back to their gutters where they belong.

no i don't think the club should be banned from the cup because of a few narrow minded racist fans that bring there club down, i feel sorry for the lad to have to put up with that sort of stick in this day and age!!! they should fine the club and get them to sort out there fans who are causeing the club trouble and ban them for life, rangers and celtic were not banned for sectarian chanting or trouble they were told to sort it out which they have done for the most part

Yes.The fact is that over the last 30 years I have found Motherwell to have one of the most bigoted and mal adjusted set of supporter in the spl. It's high time that someone did something about it.
The racists in the main stand are nothing but scum and as for the the mob in the stand across frm the main stand they have always been the worst any time I've been there.Somethings never change. Ban them all or they'll never change.

another example of " this thing does not go on at provincial clubs " stated by sections of the media. it wasnt so long ago they were saying the only reason lennon was being booed at games was because he was the type of player who was a thorn in the side of the opposing team...go figure . no place in football for racism or bigotry
