I value rationality very highly, but it's not a religion.

Rationalism regards reason as the chief source of knowledge and religions do consider other factors beyond sole reason as influential in understanding the world. Reason as idolized in rationalism will automatically turn into a very snooty heathen view of whatever that is regarded as transcendental and supernatural in religions therefore deprives itself of any possible truth that could be found in the religions. I believe it's good to use the rationale to dissect and analyze any one religion you have and be disinterested and agnostic toward the issues that are not achievable withe mere reason.

Rationalism is not a religion, it is a way of analyzing the world. You can be a rationalist Christian, a rationalist Muslim, etc. You can also be an irrationalist, or an intuitionist, or a spiritualist. Religion, by definition, is the belief in God, Gods, Godesses, or in some way a sentient power above/beyond humanity.

Can rationalism be to much personal opinion to be totally truthful on all levels? One mans ration may be another man's starvation.

I once read a quote from one of H.P. Blavatski's Books, that "There is no religion higher than Truth."
